Mateos Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Orihuela

Went to Mateos with my family, and that is my biggest regret of this vacation. I have been in the restaurant business for 20 years, and this is hands down the worst service i have ever experienced. The Staff were ignorant and not a smile to see. You can't blame it on being short handed either because they were running on 50% capacity. We had to wait over 1 hour for our meal, and then when we wanted a second round of drinks the first server took our order and threw it in the bin. When we notified the staff of the mistake, they did not give us one ounce of respect or even attempt to offer us an apology. They didn't decide to serve us our drinks until after we had finished our meal. I would not recommend this restaurant...

Menu del Noche for €10.95 is very reasonable but there are supplements on some of the more costly menu items...still good value however. The food was lovely, tasty and hot which means served straight from the oven... literally. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and efficient. It was busy midweek which was nice as there was a vibrant atmosphere.I can recommend the chicken and bacon starter which had plenty of moist chicken strips and crispy bacon pieces. The pork Bearnaise when down a treat on our table as did the chicken spezzanini and penne Alforno. It went very well with the house red which was decent .Well...

I've eaten here five times now. Fantastic food and value. Highly recommend food and wine. Also excellent service too. I came back again as it very good. I highly recommend this restaurant. Their house wine is really nice and they're not tight when they pour it!!!! I ate here last year and returned this year because it was so good. It is as I remembered, excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. Food excellent, service excellent. Sept 19 So I'm back at Mateos again. Food and wine fantastic. I've eaten here 4 times so far and it's always excellent. The staff are really helpful and friendly....
