McCoy's Irish Bar — Restaurant in Orihuela

We were recommended McCoy's by a relative of the owner. We sat outside, the place isn't situated with a nice view, but we didn't mind that too much, we were hungry. After looking at the menu it was hard to see what was Irish about the place, however I chose the burger and my companion chose the mixed grill, which included steak, chicken, and a pork chop. Everything on the mixed grill was fairly well cooked (which is what was asked for), but it was only on starting to eat the 'steak', we realised that it was a second pork chop - the pork chops and the chicken were very thinly cut, by the way. I asked the waitress why we didn't receive a steak, and she went off to ask. The answer came back that the chef had made a mistake. She didn't offer any recompense so I asked if we could knock something off the bill. She went away again and came back saying we could have one of our half pints of Guinness free - a whole 2.40 Euro. We were too tired to argue the point, but I feel that they should have offered a bit more. The other annoying thing was they played music inside the bar that could be heard outside (fair enough) but then a different soundtrack in the outside bar, also loud, so there were two pieces of music competing with each other. The burger was quite good, and the onion rings were excellent. Not a 'Irish bar' in the real sense, although I believe the owners are Irish. I have been going to McCoy's since it opened and it has always been very friendly and good and I have always recommended people to go there. However Tonight I called in and was very surprised the place was nearly empty on a Saturday night in August. I ordered a Guinness which came with a 3 inch head, something that they would never have served before. I drunk the drink and paid the bill but the change was 2 euros short. Visited last week. What a fabulous place. Gorgeous food, amazing Fish, Steaks, Burgers were just SO succulent ( and I’m hard to please!), Salted chicken so flavorful, homemade chips.. just all Natural, wholesome food. You’d know immediately they not Ready Made/processed-y fare! Attention to detail so evident with food, presentation, hospitality and care. Hygiene 1st class in toilets & environment. Great Team who know how to look after their Customers. Really a lovely atmosphere all round. Wished I could stay longer but...
