A Taberna Restaurante — Restaurant in Ourense

Me voy a tomar mi tiempo en hacer esta reseña. Hace tiempo que no voy a comer a este sitio, que tiene reconocimiento de la guía Repsol y de algunos otros reputados sitios web. He ido en el pasado y la comida me gustó. Pero lo que me ha pasado recientemente es digno de reflejar. El día 26 de diciembre he llamado sobre las 13:00 horas para hacer una reserva para 5 personas, para comer el dia 27 de diciembre. Me dicen que no hay problema, que para las 14:30 no pero que a las 15:00 les va bien. Les dejo mi nombre y mi teléfono. Por la tarde me encuentro con 2 llamadas perdidas, sobre las 17:00. Llamo y no me devuelven la llamada. Vuelvo a llamar a las 19:00 y me salta un contestador. A los 5 minutos me devuelven la llamada. Hola. Es Manuel Rodríguez? -Si,soy yo... Mira somos del restaurante A Taberna, que nos llamaste esta mañana para reservar...mira que no podemos darte mesa... pero si quieres te recomendamos un restaurante que sirve una comida del mismo estilo que nosotros...El Pingallo ( un gran restaurante por cierto)...es que no te puedo dar mesa mañana...

Mi reflexión es que no son formas. Yo entiendo que puede que no sea un cliente habitual, que mi nombre es muy común (Manuel Rodríguez) , y que igual tenga un cliente habitual que le llama a última hora y le quiere atender... pero si tienes sitio a las 13:00 horas no puedes anular una reserva a las 19:00...y luego no sabes si soy de Ourense, que es verdad que no soy de aquí ( soy de Elciego un pueblo de 1000 "paisanos" de la Rioja Alavesa), pero es que da la casualidad que llevo viviendo en Ourense desde 1986....no me perdones la vida gastronomicamente hablando por muy famoso que sea tu restaurante, que uno ya "gasta" una edad y ha vivido y comido en diferentes lugares de España y del mundo. Así que espero que leas está reseña y aprendas que en esta vida no todo vale...y va a ser muy difícil que vaya allí a comer ( y creo que a las otras 5 personas que iban a venir conmigo y que tenían ilusión por ir...

I went with my mother and we had a great experience. We were wonderfully welcomed and looked after by the owner who spoke great English. She recommended some great dishes and stopped us over ordering ! The food was delicious and we couldn't find fault with anything. Great place. Returned 3 years later and now have to report that I didn't have as good experience as before. Fish and Meat were great but the vegetables were terrible. All that was on offer was fried potatoes and a mix of vegetable finely chopped mush. Meant that we ate our fish or meat but left the rest. I have downgraded a star. The staff are still great...

Fantastic experience. Really quiet dinning room and staff has an attention to detail. We were made to feel at home. We asked a few questions regarding their extensive wine list and were helped narrowing down to a bottle of mencia. We were told if we did not like the wine it wasn't a problem and they would gladly let us open something else.. fortunately the staff helped us find an awesome bottle.
