Meson Do Vita — Restaurant in Ourense

I didn't end up eating here. After more than an hour's wait because there were no tables, we were finally seated at a table that had been available all the time. Then it took ages to get attended to. People who got in (and obviously regulars) got attended before us. When finally someone made it over to our table and I asked what they have on the menu, I said in a complementary way that I'm obviously from abroad and have heard how good it is here, and that I'd like to try some local specialities. So my question about what was available did not get answered, only my face got commented on (probably because I was straining to understand). So much for trying to speak and understand the local language. I walked out. This place did not deserve my money. Plenty of other places in Ourense. I had a lovely meal in a place where I got treated decently and not insulted when I asked what...

Hoy hemos estado comiendo 3 personas. Venimos del camino de Santiago y las reseñas que pone Google son todas para ir y probar. Expongo: Un martes de septiembre, estaba lleno a las 2 de la tarde, hemos preguntado a ver si había hueco pensando que no iba a haber y que no nos importaba esperar. Pues nos han hecho hueco en un sitio. Eso para empezar Llega un camarero (nos hemos enterado después que es el dueño del restaurante), nos ha expuesto un montón de primeros y un montón de segundos. Hemos compartido los primeros. En nuestro caso los chipirones fritos y las almejas a la marinera... buahhhh!!, que ricos, la salsa de las almejas es para mojar con ese pan tan rico que tienen. El vino albariño que hemos pedido no tenía etiqueta, pero ... Daba igual!!, estaba bien fresquito y suave (hemos pedido una segunda botella.... Insisto que éramos tres personas). Y los postres ya eran de traca .. TODOS CASEROS!, Da igual los que pidas: brutal el de queso y frutos rojos...el tiramisú muy bueno,...y como les he dicho que hago tartas de queso, nos ha traído una de tarta de queso extra para probar.... Parecía que iba a ser de queso un poco seca, pero al probarla... Joder!!, no tenía nada que ver, superrrrr... melosa. Muchas gracias al hijo del dueño (y por supuesto al dueño por las conversaciones sobre mús en la sobremesa), por la invitación a esa degustación de chupitos que nos ha dado. Cuando nos han dicho que solo eran 15€, nos hemos quedado flipando. CON TODO LO QUE HEMOS COMIDO/BEBIDO!!!. Que profesionalidad padre e hijo sirviendo todas las mesas.. CHAPEAU!!!!. y dentro en cocinas supongo que también. Hacia muchísimo tiempo que no comía tan bien a este precio en un sitio. Desde luego si alguna vez mi gente de Cuenca me recomiendan un sitio para comer en Ourense ,sin ninguna duda sabré decirles dónde (apuntado para siempre en mis lugares de Google para comer) Gracias por todo. Una pena que no esté abierto por la noche, porque era para volver...

I was really looking forward to visiting this place, and it surpassed all my expectations.

The service was fantastic and fun. The food, incredible, and the white wine was some of the best I've ever had. My girlfriend and I both ordered the menu of the day and enjoyed almejas, navajas and fish prepared two different ways. Everything was absolutely outstanding.
