A wonderful little Italian restaurant with very friendly British owners (two very experienced restaurateurs who have recently downsized their operations from Tanzania and moved to Spain). The food was delicious had great chat with the owners. We ordered all 5 mains (3 greedy large men) and all were exceptional. The house white and red were also excellent! Highly recommend popping by for lunch or early dinner (open 2pm-8pm). Best restaurant in Palas De Rei 100%.

Not sure how they get it done in the tiny kitchen but it’s Magic! šŸŖ„ their sangria is perfection, refreshing- not too overly sweet but not dry. I loved it!!! The appetizers, ugh to die for- flavor was just impeccable, I wanted more of everything. Mushrooms & cheese had a little heat to them, pleasant surprise considering it’s hard to come by spicy food in Spain. I had the pasta special of the day and not surprising, it was delicious! Don’t skip on this one!

Cash-only restaurant, owned by an Irish lass and English lad. Pasta menu plus a few other dishes and desserts. Small range of wines and beer although all adequate. All good quality and good value. Excellent, friendly service. Food, including 2 starters was about €20 each. Lovely Irish Tea was €1 each (only instant coffee available). Delicious red wine for €14. House red for €7.50. A nice place to relax. Restaurant closes for last orders at 8.30pm.

I don’t believe this restaurant deserves as high of reviews as it has, so that is why I am writing this review as I rarely do these things. I will give you our experience.

As some others have pointed out, the seating queue at this restaurant is rather odd. I understand it is a small restaurant and there may be others waiting, but turning away couples from eating at the bar when there are seats available?? This happened to a couple right before us, who only spoke Spanish, (and as others have pointed out) the owners couldn’t really communicate with them (non-Spanish speakers), that they were at full capacity. We figured we’d get in line then to wait. We waited outside a bit over half an hour for a two-top. Maybe like right before we were seated people started coming in and sitting at the bar, and guess what, they were allowed to and served food! We were so confused we confronted the owner and she said it was because they were solo patrons. Wtf? Why didn’t you mention to us couples coming in then that we could order at the bar but split checks/paying solo? This is so strange I’ve never seen this in a restaurant, nor, telling us about this option until after-the-fact, I’m sorry but that’s not good customer service. Another point on customer service.. yes, my food was overly salted, and the lady next to us also mentioned her food (dessert, mind you, salted caramel) was overly salted, how come your wait staff doesn’t check in with customers how their meal is going? How the food is tasting? You put the onus on us to let you know we didn’t think our meal tasted quite right (as your responses to other reviewers mentioning sub-par food) your response being along the lines of ā€˜well, you should have told me that while you were eating.’ C’mon, have some good customer service as a quaint restaurant and check-in with your guests! I understand you’re busy but you can do a quick check in! As a former server this is essential for a restaurant.

It is strange they are cash only, and non Spanish speakers, makes me wonder if something fishy is going on. No AC, gets real hot inside and upstairs in the summer.

I have to agree with some other reviewers, maybe we just had a bad batch but our pasta was pretty bland tasting like store bought, who puts huge chunks of sea salt on garlic bread? And the mushroom app was wayyyy oversalted. The couple good things I will say, contrary to some of the other lower reviews, we did indeed get our food served quite timely after we were seated, even though they were pretty busy. They do have some veg options for the vegetarians and vegans. And I don’t think the prices are tooo incredibly overpriced as others have stated, maybe just a tad high for what seems like pretty simple store bought dishes.

I see in your responses you mentioned you wanted to make a reasonably priced restaurant for pilgrims on the Camino, that is a noble cause but take these reviews as areas of improvement, your responses to many of the lower-star reviews is plainly, ā€˜good luck’ and ā€˜thanks for the 1 star’, ā€˜can’t please everyone’ your responses seem pretty rude. We understand this isn’t probably what you want to hear as a new-ish restaurant with a noble mission, but take these points of criticism and try to work on them! A lot of the same issues I’m reading from over a year ago occurred...

AMAZING Highly recommend! Pasta is super good, smells amazing, tastes just as amazing! We wanted to get the Tortellini but sadly they ran out, so we got the siciliano instead which was super good! Desserts options were great! We got the Apple crumble with custard and it was great! A little on the sweet side but super good. Both were super well made! The sangria slush was yummy too! Have not found it anywhere else so super happy with it! I might just be hungry but this...
