This is a friendly neighborhood gathering spot with pilgrims and neighbors gather equally. The other high rated restaurant just at the bus stop are tourist traps and refused to serve us with 87 year old companion with no apprent reason, it was only 2.30pm for lunch.

We walked further in to Calle de mayor area, this Plaza restaurant welcomed us without hesitation.

The set menu was 19.50€ and the quality was amazing. The young servers seem to understand our English but we also used Google translate to communicate further.

Let's say that they are good at elevating expectations of food in their menu descriptions. Paella with chicken means something along the lines of Spanish rice at a cheap Mexican restaurant with one tiny piece of the bone end of a chicken thigh. Chocolate mousse is off-brand Jell-O pudding. Edible, but walk one more block to the main street for more...

Menú variado aunque no incluye bebida.

Fuimos en fin de semana tras visitar Pamplona y comparar precios en lugares de la zona, este restaurante ofrecía precio competitivo (17€) pero luego nos dimos cuenta de que no incluía bebida, con lo cual el precio final fue en torno a 20€. Cantidad abundante y calidad aceptable. Tomamos de primero alubias que traían en el puchero, con lo cual te servías tú mismo, y ensalada templada, todo bien. De segundo la ternera y la merluza, bastante aceptables y el acompañamiento estaba rico. De postre tarta de manzana con helado (la tarta era un bizcocho sin más) y pantxineta, dulce típico vasco (también acompañado de helado, tenía bastante poco relleno). La atención fue buena y no tardaron mucho en servirnos.
