Valdizarbe — Restaurant in Puente la Reina/Gares

I was alone. I sat at the tables outside and waited around 10 minutes. No one came to my table, so I went inside to give my order for a menú del dia. They didn’t take it and sat me down inside. I waited another 10 minutes. I had already said I was ready to give my order before… It takes 2 seconds to take an order and I’m making it easier by going to the bar where the waiter is entering the orders on the computer. I gave up on that. I asked how much the pinchos were. I was told 1.20 without a drink or 2.50 with a drink. I ordered some and asked for the total, it was then changed to 2 euros per pinchos… Then I paid for 3 pinchos and 1 drink/pinchos and it was 9eu, seeming to be another made up number. Sadly to make it all worse, the pinchos were not good at all. I don’t comment often, and it’s normally only for good things/exceptional service or value. Awful...

I found that place dodgy. We were individuals siting together but they gave us a bill for a group. We were unable to pay by card individuappy, and we had to each pay by cash. Some people had to run to atm and pay a fee to get cash. The card reader was fine, as other locals were paying by card. It was very inconvenient, stressful and left us with a bad vibe. Pilgrims menu was very poor....

Had a good filling late lunch here during my camino. Ordered the menu de peregrino for about EUR 11, got a big bottle of water, free bread, pasta with lots of cheese, thin steak fillets with peppers and fries, and ice cream.
