L'Àncora Bar Restaurant Musical — Restaurant in Roses

Restaurant is on a good location, by the sea and we had a table close to the window, even though we didn't have a reservation. Unfortunately, smoking is allowed in the inside, which is a bad experience for non-smokers. The two meats we ordered were good and good portions, same for the seafood paella, good taste and a good portion for two. The negative: For the price of the meals, they didn't offered either bread or olives, or something before the meal, which is done on other restaurants around the area. We ordered a half jar of sangria which was juice and no alcohol, and the 1/2 jar didn't look like half and too much ice was given, so at the end was water and no sangria. We ate seafood paella, and we were not given anything to clean our hands/fingers, so we ended up cleaning our fingers on the glass of water, as nothing was neither given or offered. Service really needs to be reviewed...

If your looking for a beach bar experience, this would be good but the food is hit or miss. The restaurant is really nicely set up but bathrooms are not great for those with mobility issues. My husband had the mussels and said they were really good - he'd have them again. I had the French onion soup - give it a miss - really bland and needed salt - Not much flavor - neither the soup nor whatever cheese they used. I had then pork ribs. They were 'fall off the bone' tender. The sauce on the ribs tho was a bit salty. We also had the hanger steak - not too bad - they just didnt ask my husband how he'd like it so it came 'medium' - so Service is a bit spotty too. After they brought something they seem to ignore you. Since my husband liked the muscles and location we'll probably go back - just be prepared for something between good...

The location is great obviously, right next to the beach. But with the food we have not had a good experience unfortunately. We ordered the paella and we were brought quite a big pan full of rice and seafood. On the first glance I realised the rice was not yellow, but more brownish. When I put it onto our plates with the big spoon, I saw all of it was swimming in a brownish sauce. In the end it was super super salty, and you could not even taste the seafood. 25 Euros I am willing to pay for a good paella, but for that one for sure not! And also my plate was...
