What a lovely surprise in the back streets of San Magel pin a tar. 19 - 12- 18. Just been tacken out for lunch at Meson El Prado, on Calla Lope de Vegas. From the outside it looks small, once through the door this place opens up to a large old Spains restaurant, with outside tables. My friends have eaten at this restaurant on several occasions, and said they have always been satisfied with the service and food, they were right. The lunch time menu was spot on with lots to choose from. With 3 courses salad bread water and half a bottle of wine, at 9.50€per head, how can you say no. (THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT AND THE QUALITY WAS SUPERB FOR A LITTLE RESTAURANT IN A BACK STREET). The service from the staff was excellent and attentive. The restaurant itself was very busy, being Wednesday and market day. I would recommend this restaurant to eney one that is looking to eat out at lunch time. (NOW THAT MY FRIENDS HAVE SHOWN ME THIS LITTLE GEM WE WILL BY GOING BACK).If you have a bad lunch, and the food wasn't too you likeing, and the service was awful, then what do you want for 9.50€, if they were giving the food away for (FREE). You would always get someone complaining. At 9.50€ you must be some type...
Read moreVery nicely decorated, and great value at only 12 Euros a head for their Menu Del Dia, which consists of a choice of six starters, mains and puddings (plus a half-bottle of wine per head)!
We sat in the side room, decorated as though it was outdoors (with vines and creepers). A few plates of salad appeared on the table before the starter, as well as bread - something nice whilst you wait.
I went for egg and tuna salad starter, which was one and a half boiled eggs and a spoon of salad atop more salad - but was crispy and fresh, just what I needed for that day.
My main was two pork chops in a creamy pepper sauce; it came with chips (bit soft, not properly drained) and a small smattering of boiled veg, sufficient for a small plate (as I ended up with someone else's donated pork steak). My colleague had the rabbit paella but seemed to be just two legs within the rice, along with some escargo (still in shells - he had to request picks to extract them), accompanied by a half-bottle of wine. I also had chocolate moose to finish, light and pleasant.
There was a birthday celebration taking place, so some live music also accompanied the relaxing time. Will...
Read moreWe came here on a family holiday in Torrevieja and tried this place because it seemed to have strong recommendations.
We were not disappointed.
The starters were really nice and not short on flavour. I ordered a starter of garlic prawns followed by a main course of cuttlefish that was served with an accompaniment of chips and vegetables and a tiramasu for dessert.
The food was really good and all of our party had good things to say about it.
My cuttlefish was well cooked and not tough or rubbery. The garlic prawns were full of flavour and the tiramasu i had for desserr was rich and not over sweetened.
The staff were very friendly and sympathetic to us as foreigners and they were very accommodating to us. Even providing a high chair for our 2 year old and they were very attentive to our needs.
Furthermore, what impressed me most of all was the value for money because we paid only around €27 per head and I was astonished at how good the food was for the...
