Restaurante Hogar Del Pescador — Restaurant in San Pedro del Pinatar

My family had heard good things about this restaurant and unfortunately this place was a complete utter let down. I'm not sure what the problem was with the staff but it needs a serious check.

I'll start from the beginning and make my way down. Service took so long for anything, they don't pay attention to their tables at all it seemed.

We'd try flag them down several times but they'd only look at the table they were at then hurriedly leave, there was several times I made eye contact with the servers and waved them down politely and they'd just ignore me or my parents.

They gave us drinks and bread, the bread seemed to be going stale it was not a nice crunchy bread but stiff and felt like it was cut and left out for ages.

About drinks as well, my father ordered a Coca-Cola, saying it a couple times to the server, the server then brought back Pepsi and without confirming, poured the drink hurriedly into my father's glass. This was already quite annoying, as if you don't have Cola, say it, as he hates Pepsi. The server said they didn't have Cola, so me and my dad switched drinks. But later into the meal, another server got my dad Cola, so there was Cola and that server lied to is which is incredibly rude and annoying.

We ordered Calimari, Baby Squid and Paella. Warning you that the Paella will take over 30 minutes to be ready, so if you're in a rush like we were, don't order it.

The baby squid was not very baby. I love baby squid so I was really looking forward to having some, as I love hunting for the best. This had to be on the top 3 for the worst I've had and I hate to be rude.

Since the baby squid weren't very young the texture was completely different, as well they had a lot of ink which make the taste significantly different. I also had to add a lot of salt which didn't help, I couldn't eat it at all and had to spit it out. It was also bathed in oil.

The Calimari was actually pretty good, I didn't have much because my parents love to drench it in lemon, but unfortunately, one piece had a large string of steel wool in it, clearly on the surface. It makes me worry how careful they are with these things if they can't see a glaringly obvious gray piece of shining metal.

The Paella was really good according to my parents, I don't like it so no comment on this part from me.

Only good things about this place are prices, decor and the amount of comfortable space between the tables.

I would not go here again, it was incredibly disappointing and really upsetting for me as this was my last day in Spain, I was looking forward to some good baby squid.

I apologise for any rudeness in my review this time, the feeling I had leaving this place really...

Buenos tardes, hoy he comido con la familia en el Restaurante El Hogar del Pescador (como hacemos todos los veranos) como siempre hemos pedido un picoteo para empezar y teníamos encargado un Caldero para tres, siendo cuatro comensales contando con mi suegra (q come como un pajarito). Siempre desde que hemos ido, desde q tengo memoria nuestra olla de caldero nos la ampuesto en nuestra mesa o una auxiliar y nosotros nos serviamos, como no lo han hecho he protestado y me dicen q ahora la olla la ponen en una mesa cerca de la barra y..... ellos nos sirven, (lo cual no me ha hecho ninguna gracia), pero lo mejor viene ahora ,( q me he enterado una vez hemos salido, másconcretamente entrando en casa), y la cosa es q de nuestra olla, han servido a tres comensales más de otra mesa, así q las porciones eran más bien escasas y no he podido repetir más q un par de cucharadas más (literalmente) una vergüenza, si yo me llego ha enterar de esto, armó un pifostio q se acuerdan de mi, No volveré, yo he pedido una olla de caldero para mi familia, NO una olla compartida escasa, por cierto...., las porciones de pescado minúsculas, le habrán tocado las buenas a la otra mesa, estoy muy cabreado.😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡, eso sí, el servicio sigue siendo muy bueno

Gracias por contestar, tal vez no me he expresado bien o no me han entendido, el caldero se pidió para 3 comensales y un crio pequeño y ustedes nos cobraron 3 los comensales, perfecto (no 2 comensales como usted comenta, ya q de ser así, lo están arreglando, puesto q me cobraron 3 comensales y no 2 como ustedes dicen). Pero el tema no esta en los comensales, el problema radica q de nuestra olla de caldero salieron platos para otra mesa y eso es lo q no creo sea correcto y por lo tanto falto. Espero q esta vez me haya explicado...

A good place for quality fish dishes.

An excellent fish selection, which is why you come here. It's in a back street up steep stairs but it's worth it.

We had aperitivo of Bombay G&T plus a small beer and a tapa. Followed by 2 starters, which we shared; clams and octopus. Marvellous. Mains, 2 sea bass with 2 glasses of white wine and another beer. Two Desserts with coffee. Total €83. A bit pricey for this area but its top quality fish so you pay a small premium.

Tip - Order boiled potatoes with your fish as the saute potatoes are very oily. Not pleasant. Stick with...
