I was among the fortunate few to witness the final DJ performance by Jon Sa Trinxa at the very beach that bore his name—a ritualist of sound whose presence defined the spiritual undercurrent of Ibiza long before algorithms diluted the island’s soul. For over three decades, Jon didn’t simply play music. He orchestrated weather, memory, sensuality. His sets stitched together Sade with forgotten dub, São Paulo with San Sebastián, yesterday with never again.
And now—cancelled. Thirty years of living, breathing music erased by a quiet, cowardly municipal decision. Not out of necessity, but out of greed dressed in paperwork. A deal was made, and someone, somewhere, is making money—but not from music, and certainly not from joy. This wasn’t an ending. It was an extraction.
As his final set floated across Las Salinas, the sea listened more closely than the crowd. You could hear the ocean hesitate. Locals, lovers, dancers, elders—everyone was still, unsure how to mourn a sound that was still playing. Jon, as always, was gracious. Humble. Present. He didn’t weep. He wove. A love letter written in frequencies.
It’s tempting to say a chapter closed that day. But Jon Sa Trinxa was never a chapter—he was a vibration. And vibrations don’t end. They echo.
The municipal logic may silence the speaker, but it cannot touch the signal. You don’t cancel thirty years of devotion—you just prove you never understood it.
Never stop the music. And especially not like this.

The music goes all day and ramps up towards the late afternoon & evening with people dancing on the beach. We ate fish at the restaurant bar and it was lovely and v reasonably priced. Staff are attentive and friendly. There is waiter service on the beach if you have a bed but you can go to the bar yourself no issues. The beach is beautiful, with clear blue water to dip into. I don’t believe they do bookings at this place so if you want to grab a sunlounger with a parasol then you need to arrive before 11. Otherwise you can lay with a towel and your own gear. If you get dropped off in a cab at the car park it’s about a 15 min walk to sa trinxa which is clearly...
Read moreThe overall laid back happy and hippie vibe experience is fantastic. We started the day with only a parasol. During the day when people left, the beds were offered. The rental guy was very friendly. This made us stay for almost 8 hours. The service of Sa Trinxa is not very special. Inside is easier and better then outside where the guys have to run through hot sand of course.
The Sangria Cava was ok for what to expect there. No returning service for ice, so ask or either drink fast.
The food was also ok. A Tuna salad for 19 euro should have some real tuna and at least some dressing. Not just the simple tuna from a can.
Overall a great laid back place to be. Jump from the walking board into the sea, get a bed and a...
