A conflicted review… the food is good. No doubt about it. The menu has a good offering accounting for a variety of tastebuds. We ate here on two evenings whilst staying in-house. The atmosphere also scores highly as this venue features great music that allows for pleasant conversation whilst sat around the moody, enticing pool area. In addition it’s Adult Only (which is a big +). What let’s this venue down is the hit and miss service. It takes time to get the attention of staff - some almost appear to be purposefully averting their eyes when you’re trying to get their attention to order another drink (a glass that has sat empty for 10+ mins). When it’s time to settle your bill you must go inside the restaurant to pay at the bar. This is where my main gripe occurred. The waitress presented the machine for my payment and then quickly selected to have the bill dynamically currency converted (which applies a 2% surcharge on top of the bill and charges a very average mid market currency conversion - this is supposed to only be done with permission of the card holder) - this is quite frustrating as though the difference is not huge it is an unnecessary cost to be incurred and adds up when travelling often. She made no attempt to apologise and it was only when I returned a few moments later (frustrated with the breach and noting that the receipt itself says I was given an option to have my currency converted by their machine) to be met by the manager who kindly and apologetically processed the refund and entered a new transaction WITHOUT the currency conversion. A good recovery by the manager, but for those not aware of dynamic currency conversion, this is a deceptive practice when not given a choice. We chose this restaurant for our final evening in Menorca as the restaurant looked beautiful and had an interesting menu - it was certainly memorable but for all the wrong reasons. Yes, a beautiful setting and the staff generally friendly but that’s where it ended. The food was truly terrible. We ordered calamari and croquettes to start - the calamari was overcooked and rubbery and the croquettes still frozen in the middle and were sent back to the kitchen. For main, the rice with prawns and cuttle fish was just extraordinarily salty rice with four prawns and a few mussels - no cuttlefish or any other flavour in sight - at over €50 for two people it was a huge disappointment. We also ordered two linguine one was luke warm and the other stone cold, so again returned to the kitchen. I decided against a replacement as by that time the meal was ruined anyway. The staff did not know how to deal with with the situation so we asked to speak to the manager who was apparently on their way - the barman then arrived to tell us they would take the returned dishes off the bill. I asked if he was the manager but was told there was no manager on site and was presented with the bill. It was not fair to object further with the waiting staff as it was not their fault and we paid €120 for a bottle of wine, a beer and the food which we had tried but had regretfully not returned and had barely eaten. We came to this restaurant with a happy heart because the staff at the front desk of the hotel told us that they didn't have the room ready and that we would be scheduled to check in by four instead of two. We arrived at the menorca in the morning and we didn't start our first meal until now, we were very hungry, we ordered two entrecôte medium rare and after waiting for half an hour it turned out to be obvious that the other one was made fully cooked and I couldn't bite into the piece of meat at all... I brought this to their attention and the wait staff told me to keep waiting and the back kitchen would make me a new I told them this and the waiter told me to wait and the backroom would make me a new one. I asked for the time and he didn't give me an answer, he just told me that he would give me another one. I was very disappointed with the service, I did not want to spend another half hour waiting for a piece of beef, it was a complete waste of my time. I wanted a random faster dish but he was very perfunctory and didn't respond to my questions .... For this I can only give him a point or even less if that's possible. I will never...
