We were really looking forward to our meal at Bambu in Menorca after hearing great things, and on booking I made sure to mention that my partner has a severe peanut allergy. Despite this, we were served food containing peanuts, which resulted in him having a serious allergic reaction and needing to use his EpiPen. We had to leave immediately, and he was unwell for the rest of the evening.
This not only ruined our night, but also meant our two-year-old son went without a proper meal due to the chaos and distress that followed. This is simply unacceptable. Allergy information was clearly given in advance, and this kind of mistake could have had an even more tragic outcome.
I want to say that the server who looked after us (a lovely lady with green eyeliner) was genuinely caring and visibly shaken by the situation. She did everything she could to help us, and we really appreciated her kindness.
However, the manager’s response was appalling. Instead of offering an apology or checking in on us, he said he would “double check” our booking notes, implying we may have made it up, and never came to speak to us again. For a high-end restaurant with such a beautiful setting and premium pricing, we expected a much higher standard of care, particularly around food allergies.
The server reassured us they’ll now be extra cautious with allergy checks moving forward, but this should have been a priority already. Lives depend on it.
It was our second-to-last night on holiday, and we’re heartbroken that it ended the way it did. I wouldn’t feel safe returning and sadly can’t recommend Bambu after such a...
Read moreI hoped to rest a bit with a drink in this beautiful restaurant. But if you want drinks (and maybe also because we did not have a reservation) you have to sit on the high chairs at the bar. I explained this was physically impossible due to a dissability. He said he could place chairs next to the bar, but then you would have no place to put your drinks and your view would be the wall of the bar haha so that did not sound very appealing. Plus, the normal chairs also looked pretty uncomfortable. So its maybe a ok restaurant if you are a wheelchair user, but other types of dissability maybe not.
To bad there was no other option available.
The view is incredible though. But make sure you make a reservation for lunch or diner. Im sure its a nice place if you have a healthy(ish) body.
Edit: I see the reply, and I dont think they understand my review. Like I said, you have to book ahead and it looks like a lovely place to eat/drink. Just not when you have a dissability. And since there was a wheelchair logo on google maps, I expected something more. But thats clearly only about wheelchair acces. And ai think its good to share this info with other people with dissabilities. But clearly restaurants do not like that. What can I say? This was my experience, and thats what google...
Read moreGreat first visit to Bambu last night and certainly won’t be the last. The food surpassed expectations and the service really is as good as we read on the reviews before going, a young team working seamlessly and unobtrusively to provide the best experience possible. The music was at just the right level and provided a nice backdrop. The view was lovely and relaxing, even from our window seat in the indoor restaurant (we will definitely try the terrace for a sunset dinner next visit but it appeared that, no matter where you are seated in the restaurant, it’s a really lovely relaxing vibe - hard to believe it’s just off the street, it really is like stepping into an oasis of calm). We shared the ribs starter, which we both agreed were the best ribs we have had in a long time - bursting with flavour and the meat falling off the bone. I then had the seabass (I don’t usually enjoy asparagus but would gladly eat the accompanying asparagus on a regular basis it was cooked so perfectly!) and my boyfriend had the rib eye with chimichurri (he’s really fussy with chimichurri as he loves it, and he loved this one). If you’re wondering whether to visit, don’t hesitate, it’s a wonderful experience. We will definitely be returning when we come...
