A cosy and charming restaurant located on a vibrant and buzzing street in Santa Eulalia, Es Terral is a must visit for all foodies. The quality of the food here is exceptional. Everything from the olive oil to the meat and fish really is a cut above the rest.
We had the anchovies, followed by the beef fillet and skate (catch of the day) served with chips/mashed potatoes and vegetables and then the crème brûlée for dessert. The beef fillet was cooked to perfection, the skate fish was delicate and light, as it should be and the crème brûlée was to die for! The dishes were simple yet beautifully presented, I only wish I took photos before we ate it all.
The service here is 5 star, from the second we walked in we were made to feel like VIPs and nothing was too much trouble. We walked past Es Terral a number of times hoping to get a table on the off chance but it was always full so we made a reservation for 2 days time instead. It was definitely worth the wait.
What surprised me the most was when we turned up for our reservation the manager had remembered that we had a little baby boy and kindly set us up with a table with extra space, in a quiet spot and with a high chair and space for pram. This meant the little one could sit with us and enjoy some food before going to sleep in his pram without being disturbed, so that we could then enjoy a relaxing and romantic evening together. The fact this was all taken care of without an ask really impressed us. This excellent level of service followed through the entire time we were here creating a warm and welcoming vibe throughout.
Every question we asked was answered with detail and care, we were given fantastic recommendations when we struggled to decide what food to order as there was so many great choices on the menu (honestly, everything sounded delicious) and along with this, fantastic wine/drink parings were provided too.
To top it all off the chef Matthieu Savariaud even came to our table to talk to us about the food and menu and what we enjoyed. It was an absolute pleasure to have had the opportunity to speak to him and it was such a lovely touch that he took the time to come and ask us what we thought about the food and how everything was.
Thank you to the entire Es Terral team for the most special and amazing evening. We hope to visit again before we fly home to...
Read moreClassy and cozy place located in a super cute street. I came here alone on the first day, ordered an appetizers and an entree and top it off with their recommended glass of red. It was my first time having escalivada, the vegetables were cooked perfectly, soft but not mushy and my oxtail entree had the just right amount of fattiness in the stew. You can taste the richness of the red wine used and the Moroccan pastry was so crispy and light that I couldn’t stop eating it. I had blood oranges for dessert and it was definitely the best citrus I ever had. In the heat the sweet and sour citrus with ice and some ginger was a delightful treat. It was so good I took my boyfriend the next day and he went back again on his own on the third day.
The second night we had foie gras torchon, anchovies, sweet bread and tuna belly. I usually prefer my foie gras seared, but the torchon was so good, even my boyfriend who’s not usually a foie gras person ate it all up. The sweet bread here is another level, not oily at all with the crispy skin and soft bite, it’s a must order. The tuna belly dish was perfectly made, just enough pink on the inside but what impressed me the most was the side of artichoke. The texture was so perfect that I thought it was better than the tuna and the foie gras.
The couple who owns the place are super nice, the chef came out to ask us how everything was personally. You can tell his passion by the way he handles all the ingredients, three nights, nine dishes, nothing was ever over or undercooked, over seasoned or under seasoned, which is...
Read moreLast night at Es Terral was a delightful discovery. Its presence in the Michelin Guide and the fact that Chef Matthieu Michel Savariaud has worked in top kitchens in Mayfair certainly make it stand out, but in truth, that pedigree just sets the stage. What really matters is what arrives on your plate.
The dining space is simple and unpretentious, which permits the food to take centre stage. The menu is concise, confident; the wine list equally so, with some excellent bottles at fair prices.
Each dish was beautifully thought through and full of character. When I chose the octopus with sobrasada and coriander pesto, the maître d’s face lit up “the sobrasada really elevates it,” she said and she was absolutely right. It was delicious. My wife’s duck was equally compelling.
We had a 7:30 pm reservation and shared the dining area, outside with a few other couples but within 90 minutes that and the inside area was full. Do book ahead or risk missing out.
Every course brought a smile. It was one of those rare evenings when the meal...
