Pub Molly Malones — Restaurant in Santa Pola

Four of us visited for a drink and a bite to eat.

After waiting at one of the outside tables for 10 minutes I went in to see if we could have a look at the menu. The guy behind the bar gestured towards where the menus were without speaking a word.

I found the menus and took them out to the rest of our party. On handing them out I gave them the great news that I now appeared to be employed here, as it seemed that I was expected to get the menus and take the orders, as still no member of staff came out to our table.

Dutifully, I took the drinks and food orders and went back inside to pass them on. There was now a female member of staff behind the bar who managed to completely ignore me for 5 minutes even though there were no other customers! Eventually I asked if I could order some food. She responded by shouting 'WHAT'? into my face. This was especially disappointing as she was ignoring Covid regulations by not wearing a face-mask.

I explained, in Spanish, that I would like to order some food. Without a word, she marched over to the menus that I had just put back, picked one of them up and threw it onto the bar in front of me. I was about to explain that I already knew what we wanted but she had already walked away again.

Best avoid Tuesday morning breakfast. My wife and I arrived in just ten minutes after they opened hoping for a nice cooked breakie. When we went in and tried to decide where to sit a waiter very quickly approached us to say that all seats were reserved (no signs on the tables) and that we would have to sit outside. It's book club day! Okay, it's a chilly but sunny morning, we hoped to get a seat in the sun. Unfortunately most of the terrace was still in the shade. The small area in the sun was taken up by a cake and jewellery stall! So we had shaver a little. When the pleasant staff served our breakfast unfortunately they had not used a hot plate. Absolutely dreadful service. Four of us went into the bar and asked if they were serving breakfast. There was only 4 other people in the restaurant. We waited several minutes and then had to ask for menus. We continued to wait for at least five minutes more before we asked him again if we could order some teas. it would have been quicker for us to go out and buy the tea because he took nearly ten minutes. We had to ask for sugar and again for spoons. By then, we had had enough and decided to leave and go elsewhere. The owner should be made aware that probably 30-35 euros of business just walked out.
