Cafetería Luzmela — Restaurant in Santander

Visited this fine place twice last week during a short stay in Santander. The staff were very friendly and explained the menu items & the selection of pinchos (bar snacks) available (my spanish needs some improving & I don't eat meat). There were plenty of seafood options so for my evening meal went for the cod croquettes followed by spicy mussels (perfectly cooked mussels in a not to spicy sauce). Both tasted great. A day later just before the lunch crowds decended I tried a couple of the pinchos (aubergine & cheese & the the salmon) both were great.

The place can get busy during lunch & evenings but it's worth going just before lunch or a little later in the evening.

The quality of the food, great service from the staff & the overall atmosphere means I look forward to coming back here when I'm next...

For me this is the go-to tapas bar in Santander. The first time I just bumped into it by chance and was attracted by the atmosphere and the range of big portioned on the counter and since then it’s my compulsory visit when I go through the city. It never fails to thrill me. The porcupines are varied and copious. Unfortunately I am not a drinker because I am sure I am missing something by seeing how much the other customers enjoy theirs. Staff are alert, friendly and efficient too. For me visiting Santander means dropping into Cafeteria Luzmela for sure. Easy to find and in a nice part of town with good buzz...
