Parrilla La Leña Santander — Restaurant in Santander

Great friendly staff. Welcoming and accommodating. Food was disappointing. Waited to go here based on reviews and they had been closed for the Aug long weekend. Excited, I went for 1pm lunch for the menu del día which looks really inviting. First course was OK, wasnt fab but I thought maybe it just wasn't for me, I was expecting more meat, but hard to find more than 3 piece. Then the second course arrived you can see in the picture just how disappointing it is. How oily it was, undercooked fries, the San Jacabo (cordon bleu) was oily, flavourless. I ate the egg, however, evident how old the egg is based on how spread the egg white is. Left the rest after a mouthful. The flan for dessert was tasty but not enough to redeem the main meal. Service was excellent ... Shame about the main...

Food: 5 stars for steak specials. 3 star for menu del dia. Overall 4.5 stars.

Went on Saturday and they had Menu del dia at 13Euros. It came with an appetizer, entree, dessert, soft/ fresh bread, dessert, wine and water. There was also a steak entree special which were very well priced, meat was fresh, and portions were good. They turned out to be the hilight of the meal. Fries were all soggy and not crisp. Menu del dia quality was not very good. The rice appetizer had a lot of seafood and good flavor but was soggy. The entree portions for menu del dia were small. Steak was tough and rubbery. The owner is super nice and friendly. Waitresses were all very kind and patient trying to explain the different menu options to us. Restaurant was busy so best to reserve...

Terrific experience. Best so far in Spain. Food was very, very good and reasonably priced (Had the mixed salad and fried anchovies and both were great).

Man working behind the bar was incredibly friendly and helpful. He gave me a bag of ice twice for my injured leg.

The young Colombian woman working there was fantastic, also incredibly friendly and helpful. She also has brilliant English if you're not a comfortable Spanish speaker and looking for food or beer.

Really great experience, I'd rate it higher than 5...
