There are two dozen restaurants in the Sanxenxo promenade, and this one is somehow is the most disorganised of them all. We arrive at the door, but nobody comes to receive us. A queue forms up. After minutes of waiting, we ask a waitress for a table. She replies in rough Spanish, "wait", ignoring our attempts at English, French or Portuguese dialogue.
Time passes. The restaurant is hot as the surface of Venus and noisy as a Bangkok flea market. The waitress disappears. Another employee rudely calls up names of startled tourists who had reserved a table; we ask ourselves, do they only have tables for reservations?
"Fair enough," we thought, but we shall never really know if that was the case: we spent almost twenty minutes miserably waiting for someone, anyone, to come and say "sorry, no tables left today" or "apologies but we only take reservations right now".
So we just turned around and left with what dignity we could salvage. We give the food one star - food you cannot taste feels like manure, after all. Service was horrendous, just two hard-working employees handling almost 20 tables by themselves and no one to greet people at the door and put order to the place. Atmosphere was venusian, as aforementioned. All in all, a disaster. Don't risk it, go eat at Sorrento or anywhere else...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant after reading the amount of good reviews.. Nice location with good quality food...... Until we got home. We ate a salad, the pulpo with shrimps, the mariscada and the monk, we also had a cheesecake and their specialty strawberry pastry cake as desserts. Everything tasted good, quality was good but we thought the prices were too high for what it was, especially the seafood plate considering it didn't include lobster or not many "expensive" things (the dish costed 75€). Also we thought it would have been much better if everything was hot.. half dish was cold!
Overall we went home happy of our first dinner in Galicia.... Until my partner started having stomachaches and few runs to the bathroom! My family and I also had the stomach a bit upaset, but nothing compared to his experience. Still can't figure out what it was, but quite certain it came from that mixed...
Read moreGreat fish and seafood but the unfriendly owner ruined the vibe for us. We arrived at a busy time, he showed us where to sit and that we got 10 minutes to think about our order. At that point I should already have known. When he came back we couldn’t even ask a question about the menu. My dad had a stroke some years ago and can’t talk fluently because of that, when he hesitated too long to tell the owner what he wanted to order the man just ran off, in a very angry manner. Its obvious to us that he can allow this kind of behaviour as its a very well-known restaurant with a certain type of well established visitors. Luckily the food was good and of high quality, the other waiters were very very friendly too. Despite those positive things we wont be coming back here. If you cant handle a busy restaurant in a friendly way you shouldnt be in...
