Restaurante El Mirador — Restaurant in Setenil de las Bodegas

This is an odd one. Situated in the stunning village of Setenil De Las Bodega we walked through the stunning narrow roads to the hotel which was recommended well on Trip Advisor. The entrance to the hotel is enticing but the restaurant itself lacks charm and style and feel like an 80s corporate dining room. The view is decent but compared to the far better views over the town is actually dull. One waiter was very helpful spoke decent English and explained the specials. The other waitress was friendly but unable to assist as no English spoken at all. The food was well presented and of decent standard but the most pricey so far this trip. The place wad dead. One/two other couples and no atmosphere at all. If it wasn't for the location we would feel very disappointed but the walk back to the car in the twinkling lights...

We visited El Mirador on a hot Wednesday in August. All of the eateries at the bottom of the town were fairly busy, so we walked the town first and then came across this restaurant. We were lucky we did as the view was great and the food even better. For us (a family of four with a teenager and one not far off a teenager) the meal, with mains and desserts, drinks and tip cake to €80. For the food that we had it was a brilliant price and reflected great value. Disappointing after reading previous reviews. The atmosphere was spoiled by the very loud back ground music and the canteen like layout. Service by Valentina was good but felt rushed to order and finish courses. Although a varied menu, the presentation was disappointing and didn't actually match the menu, I ordered iberian cheeks with mash it came with chips! although very tender it was far too sweet, the house salad was very disappointing with meagre dried chicken in breadcrumbs hidden in a mound of lettuce with a hint of the promised honey dressing.
