Arigatō Tarifa — Restaurant in Tarifa

on a road trip to Andalusia with my sister, we came across this sushi restaurant in the heart of the old part of the city of Tarifa, which turned out to be the best restaurant we have been to. It is an elegant establishment, with attention to every detail, whose stylish choices are diluted by a cozy, family atmosphere. Maks and Adrian prepared for us some of the best sushi we have ever eaten, guiding us through the dining experience with explanations of the flavor combinations they chose -- finally original, no philadelphia or other culinary sacrileges spawned by the sushi trend, in which quantity overrides quality -- with kindness and interest. Although we were enthusiastic about all the pieces on offer, the tuna definitely deserves special note; soft and flavorful, it alone bears witness to the quality of the fish there. To top it off, an excellent selection of wines (I personally loved the shape of the glasses chosen) and background music - a rare occurrence for me - , which helped make us feel part of a dinner among friends and not confused foreigners who accidentally stumbled into any tourist proposition. I absolutely adore the sushi restaurant in Tarifa! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by Maks and Adrian (who are the owners and also cook!) with a warm and inviting atmosphere.

But what truly sets this restaurant apart is the exceptional quality of their sushi. The freshness of their ingredients is undeniable, and you can taste the commitment to using only the finest seafood and ingredients. You won't find fresher tuna anywhere in the world! Each piece of sushi is a work of art, meticulously crafted by Maks and Adrian who clearly take pride in their work.

The service at this sushi restaurant is top-notch as well. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always ready to provide recommendations or answer any questions you may have about the menu.

Íbamos con ganas después de las buenas reseñas y puntuación del restaurante y salimos un poco en shock. Vamos punto por punto: Ya empezamos mal cuando la camarera nos trae la botella de vino q pedimos abierta y sin siquiera dejarnos el corcho de la misma. Además no estaba ni decentemente frío. Qué menos que abrirte la botella que has pedido delante tuya, lo que viene siendo un básico en hostelería… pues se ve q no El resto del servicio fue correcto, sin fallos en el personal. Pedimos varios platos para compartir y resumiendo: la ventresca de atún que manejan tiene un infiltrado de grasa mínimo y pasa inadvertido en el sabor. El tartar de ventresca, que lo presentan tan picado que casi está machacado y aliñado con cebollino y cebolla, insulso y sin sabor alguno a ventresca. El niguiri de atun flambeado, al no tener apenas grasa, solo sabe al sabor del flambeado y nada a ventresca. Y el sashimi de ventresca pues 3/4 de lo mismo, de sabor cortito con sifon. Los makis de atun y de salmon estaban ricos, de ahí las estrellas que le doy a la comida, pero a galaxias de distancia de japos de altas ligas. La carta de vino es microscopica y calidad/precio desorbitada. El ambiente del local agradable, pero le resto estrellas porque las camareras intentaron colar a 3 amigos por delante de la lista de espera, dándose cuenta los clientes a los que le tocaba realmente. Un poco lamentable intentar colar a 3 amiguis habiendo gente esperando. Es tomarlos por tontos siendo claro.

En resumen, 120€ de cuenta en un japo q no lo vale ni de broma. No volveré. Teníamos que habernos levantado e ido nada más traernos la botella de vino abierta… pero intentamos ser positivos… error.

Pd: Si quieres ventresca de verdad, busca restaurantes que sirvan atún de almadraba Gadira o Petaca Chico, no caigas en la trampa de la mayoría de...
