El Chiringuito — Restaurant in Tarifa

Perfect place to relax on the beach - all day long. This Restaurant has a nice view is direcrly on the main beach in tarifa. They offer nice drinks and cocktails. The highlight is that they offer some beachbeds and you can use them for free. It is no problem,the stuff is really friendly and you just have to take one or two drinks during the day. The cocktails were really good, so everything was fine. Just the ice tea is not what we were expecting and doesn't fit the picture on the menue at all - this is why I just gave 4 points. Appalling. Really absolutely appalling. I have been to enough restaurants of varying quality in my life, but the utterly awful service we were afforded here has prompted me to write my first review. We waited a long time to finally be served, only to be informed that we would need to book in advance if we would like a paella.There was mention on the menu of a delay to allow cooking from fresh, but nothing about pre booking. Strange operating protocol given that it's a seafood restaurant, and paella must surely be a staple dish for them. The waiter treated us with disdain, suggesting we have some other fish instead. Seafood restaurant right by the beach with a spectacular view of the coast. There's a patio for drinks, dining room for food. Octopus starter was tender. My main dish---red tuna with four textures---was creative, with crispy batter around tuna tataki, served with soy sauce and variety of flavourings including wasabi. My partner's tuna belly was lightly flavoured with salt and grilled, you could very much taste the freshness of the tuna. Tuna in both dishes I would have liked slightly less cooked though.
