UPDATE: You can see the professionalism and disrespectful undertone in the managers response to this review below. I’m not quite sure where the element of compromise comes in when 2 people at a restaurant order 2 meals . We asked 5 times for them to bring the dishes out at the same time, and they chose to ignore us, so to say that they try their best to satisfy customers is simply untrue. If they wanted to satisfy us they could have remade the order the first, the second, or the third time we asked, instead of serving us an undercooked cold steak that had been sat on the side for 30 minutes. To make matters worse the manager then has the audacity to suggest that my friend was more understanding than I was and to take a look at my other reviews. My friend put on a smile and her face was more forgiving than mine, but we were both upset by this experience, and I just happened to be the one doing the talking. Nothing like a manager who tries to make their customers feel small, because asking for basic respect and minimum customer service is such a “high” expectation.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: This used to be my favourite restaurant, until today. We ordered a starter, a pizza and a steak to share. We specified at the beginning of the meal that we wanted the dishes to come together at the same time, and the waiter checked that that was what we were asking for. In Spain sometimes when you are sharing dishes they bring them out at different times, but we knew we didn’t want that so we ensured to ask at the beginning of the meal. The starter was brought out early, which didn’t bother us too much, as it was after all a starter dish. After waiting around 45 minutes a waitress came out to us and told us that the steak would be ready before the pizza, to which we said we weren’t happy with that as we wanted all the food to come at once, as we had initially requested. She took note and left. Around 20 minutes later a waiter came out with the steak. We asked if the pizza would follow soon, and he said yes and tried to leave the steak on the table. We said we would like the steak at the same time as the pizza and asked him to take it back. Another 5 minutes went by and the female waitress came back out with the same plate of steak. We explained for the third time that we wanted the steak with the pizza. We waited another 20 minutes and the waitress brought out the steak and the pizza, and the steak and accompanying sides were stone cold, as it had been sat on the side in the restaurant for around 30 minutes. We had also ordered the steak medium-well done and it was brought out medium-rare. We brought this up with the waitress and she told us that they could heat it up but the accompanying sauce would end up going bad if they did. It was at this point that I felt really quite annoyed. We had repeatedly asked for the steak to come at the same time as the pizza and instead of remaking the steak for us due to their mistake, they had left it sitting out for 30 minutes on the countertop and then tried to serve it to us. Nevertheless they had not properly cooked the steak and then still did not want to remake it. I said to the waitress that we weren’t happy about this and that they hadn’t remade the steak and I asked to speak to the manager. The manager came over and although I could see he wanted to try to solve the problem, he didn’t seem very understanding of why I was upset, and tried to justify that it was ok that they brought the steak out first just because we were sharing the meals. He then went on to say that they could remake the steak for us, but we would have to wait for it, and basically that it defeated the point of us asking for it to come at the same time. He just didn’t seem to understand why we might be annoyed. It doesn’t seem appropriate to have to tell the servers a total of 5 times that we wanted the meals to come at the same time.
