OK so giving Alma stars is a little hard. We've been here several times and the food is lovely. It is modern, delicate and tasty with twist of Asian fusion. So a good place to go if you are a foodie. There is a lot to choose from. On the other hand, if you are on a tight budget and your tastebuds feel challenged when eating something more exiting than whole grilled chicken with white rice, then you better look elsewhere. It is not the cheapest restaurant in La Mata but it is not expensive either considering that you are front line directly on the beach. You don't come here in your swim shorts. It is sort of fancy with cool interior (check out the doors to the toilets) and cool music. So the perfect place to showcase your new dress thats been hanging in the closet waiting for the right occasion, go out for drinks with with girls on the roof top terrace, go eating with the guys or just go people watching while taking a dip in the pool. The location is perfect. It is often veery busy and it can be very (!) loud inside as the sounds bounces of the walls and ricochets around the room. So eating outside on the terrace is highly recommended. Especially if you are a group and want to hear what everyone's is saying. One of the reasons why I don't give Alma full pot is the service. They are friendly but either they are understaffed or just unorganised and slow. You can wait a loooong time to get the attention of the waiters. And often the food does not arrive to everyone at the same time. Because of the quality of (expecially the Asian) food, the location, the interior I give it 4 stars. Even though it sometimes qualifies for only 3 stars. Faster and more attentive service (more people at work?) , food being delivered to everyone at the table at the same time and doing something about the noise level and this place would get...
Read moreOur mussels were overboiled and shrank totally, they tasted salty and their texture was like chewing gum. Our octopus was decomposing, which means it was grilled for too long because it wasn't fresh. As I asked them to remove these items from the bill, the waiters told me it is my fault to order mussels at this time of the year, that it could have been a bad batch. There was an Engilsh woman in front of us that got much better mussels than us. After some discussions, they removed them from the bill, but they only discounted me a small percentage from the octopus, which was unheard of. To avoid a huge discussion, I've settled my bill and left the place totally hungry. The fact that they tried to charge me for two non-edible dishes (especially the bargain attempt with the mussels, that gave me the rest) was infamous. They used to do yummy stuff, but this year the food and service have gone drastically down....

I am now finished my meal then starters ( back to front but hey ho) 10 minutes to return hamburger that is wrong.

Oh...and now arrives the bread!@#!
We left the hamburger-sent it back...
The worst service ever. How do restaurants get away with this a nominal service.
We live permanently in Spain. We are not tourists. But if this is how Spanish restaurants treat "foreigners" ...well then never expect our support...
