I took my family to a restaurant I visited before a while ago and decided to had coffee and hot chocolate with our child, beforehand we asked the member of staff if it was ok to drink only coffee they said yes, however once the hot drinks were served and portion of fries , my wife , my son and I wanted to play UNO game cards - children and family game - the waiter approach abruptly to asked us we are not allow to play the game in their premises , shocked by the mandatory comment my wife asked the waiter why and what was the reason we couldnt play a children/family game? His reply was because we are not allow to do that according to his boss, still his answer was vague and nonsense. Then he explained : if Spanish police see this they will give us penalty for playing card bet game!! . I said we are not playing "card bet game" !!. We only want to play UNO children/family card game but we could see the waiter was getting hesitate, so we decided to finish our hot drinks and leave.
To be honest this was the most ridiculous answer we have ever heard in a restaurant, imagine a child playing UNO - but according to the waiter he called card bet game - with his parents. If this place it isnt child/family friendly they should have a warning sign in the front entrance to families "they are not allowed to play any card games."
This incident we shared with our Spanish friends and totally agreed with us - nonsense comment from this...
Read moreChiringuito Mambo, The beach bar where a little mayor makes his rules. We have rented a bed on the beach here a few times and later in the day we had a drink and a meal. Every time we saw people going from the beach to the bar. Ladies in bikinis. Young girls in bikinis who ask the little mayor for a cocktail that he makes with excitement. This time we went there again. My wife in jeans and a bikini top, just like all the other times we were there to eat and drink. We indicated that we would only have a drink this time and the friendly waiter went to get the drinks without any problem. The little mayor immediately came to tell me that my wife was not allowed to sit there like this. When I immediately said. Then give me the bill, it was suddenly allowed. However, when I started the discussion and really wanted to pay, the story came that you should do that at home but not in a restaurant, sitting in a bikini. However, in our eyes it was still neat, bikini top and jeans, and the rule was suddenly applied since it was no problem at all the other times. Very narrow-minded for a beach bar. So if you want to sit at chiringuito mambo in a bikini top, make sure that you: are young and single or a woman alone. at least ordered food the little mayor is not there.
If you really want to apply these rules in your chiringuito, make it clear that a bikini top is not allowed and be consistent in...
Read moreWe ordered bread and sardines to start, a large salad as main and burger with chips. To begin with they serve chicken fillet or beef burger. They cannot make a chicken burger; apparently it was out of the question. We were brought the sardines with no bread. When my burger arrived, I had to use Google translate to ask for ketchup and mayonnaise. The food was mediocre. Chips were frozen wedges, a few at that I could count with my fingers. The problem is the light used for ambience are purple spotlights on the table and this makes it very difficult or even still, less appetising to eat the food. The waiters seem to have an attitude to serving when it comes to thinking out of the box. I know it is not a Michelin star restaurant, but hygiene from staff plays an important part in presentation. Our waiter looks like he has been slaving in the kitchen for days and could do with a holiday and a shave and shower.
We were hungry and are grateful to be fed despite the shortcomings.
The view is decent but there are plenty of other establishments to choose from if you are one to get rubbed up the wrong way when treatment comes into...
