La Casita griega - greek house- — Restaurant in Torrox

Not good enough, not as advertised in the local media. Salad was a plate of tomatoes with rather a thin dressing, and tough pitta-bread. I'm sure I asked for typical Greek salad, which usually includes at least some greens. I asked for olive oil as there was no salad dressing on the table - and received a big bottle of Spanish oil from Lidl's - surely an insult to a Greek salad!. Next up was a piece moussaka, salty and somewhat dry served with no kind of accompaniment. My partner had a kind of feta-cheese fry-up which was good but smallish portion. We've been to lots of Greek restaurants (mainly in Greece) and usually had much better experiences. We left still hungry and unsatisfied, and finished eating somewhere else. I guess that like many of the overpriced restaurants on the costa, many of the plentiful tourists never return, but we live locally and would gladly return often and with friends if we had a good experience. I should have realised from the menu that such a small restaurant probably cannot produce all the items on it without resorting to cook-chill or freezing portions which doesn't really work with food that should be produced daily - they would be better to do a smaller menu to a better quality. So basically we had three dishes and water, for 45 euros and, unusually, had to pay in cash. Is that good...

Why haven't I been here before?

This cozy restaurant has left the best impressions! Delicious dishes, most beautiful presentation and greek style seaside decorations and lovely selections of food and drinks for a good price.

The hospitable hosts made us feel welcomed and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Their passion for cooking and refining their secret recipes to perfection is mouthwatering. I'm not surprised that most tables are booked each night.

Food is pretty good I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of my delicious dinner: grilled haloumi cheese, vegetarian mezze various starters food platter, baked octopus with garnish and pitta bread as a main dish and greek yogurt with almond ice cream and glazed bergamot fruit. I also enjoyed the red house wine and greek lemonade. Ideal for those who want a romantic day or night out close to the beach promenade with sea views. There is also plenty of room for bigger groups. We are so fortunate to have this place just a few minutes away from home. Love this place and will continue to visit. Truly a hidden gem....

Vaya por delante que ha sido mi primer griego, con lo que no tengo con qué comparar, pero sé diferenciar comida buena de mala. Digamos que se queda en normal, porque tampoco es que fuese mala.

El tsatsiki de entrante (la crema esta de pepino, yogurt y ajo, etc) está bien de sabor y tal, pero tienes que pedir el pan aparte y por unidades, además de que parece que fuese procesado y no casero (a lo mejor me equivoco), ya que viene perfectamente redondo y cortado por la mitad; estos panes suelen estar brutales y aquí "ni fu ni fa."

Pedimos de principales los de las fotos, que sinceramente no voy a poner cada nombre porque van en griego y no me acuerdo...

La hamburguesa rellena de queso feta es lo único que voy a remarcar porque creo que con muy poco se puede mejorar: estaba sosa. Además, creo que el queso feta no es el mejor para rellenarla, ya que no derrite y se queda el tropezón suelto y te lo tienes que comer disperso por el plato con la hamburguesa hecha pedazos. Entiendo que en Grecia debe haber más quesos y más adecuados para el plato (el feta es el único que hemos visto en toda la carta), a no ser que sea una receta milenaria intocable, que lo dudo, dado que se sabe la fecha aproximada de la invención de la hamburguesa ;)

Puede que lo que más me haya gustado hayan sido los pinchitos de cerdo, si tengo que recomendar algo. Eso sí, hay platos que vienen ya con su poquito de tsatsiki, por si queréis ahorraos el entrante. Las ensaladas de guarnición bastante frescas.

El pulpo bien hecho y bien de sabor, puede que sea lo segundo que más me gustó. El puré que viene de acompañamiento con alcaparras quizá un poco aliñado de más.

Los calamares pues el relleno bastante ausente y de nuevo el queso feta, que no le pega ni con cola, y necesitas una cuchara para poder recogerlo del plato de lo desmenuzado que se queda.

Espero no molestar a los propietarios, el trato fue muy bueno y la comida y bebida en tiempo, pero con esos detalles a mejorar según mi humilde opinión y siempre queriendo que mejore el negocio; también estábamos prácticamente solos, no sé cómo funcionarán a full, pero desgraciadamente no hemos probado nada que nos haga...
