Abrasador El Laurel — Restaurant in Ubrique

The food was really good, and the presentation was much better than what I would expect in a city that small. But the service was so awful that it ruined the whole experience. I’m ok with waiters taking longer to handle the tables when the place was full, but when we went there there were only 3 other tables with customers, and we had to actually go look for our waiter not once but twice to be able to order something. (In the end he was just chatting with a local customer, so maybe the service will be better if you are a regular on the place.)

I was curious to know if other people had a bad experience as I did, but by the reviews it looks like it’s a 50-50% chance of you to have a bad one, so I would say it’s up to you to give it a try. In my opinion I would definitely not...

We had a reservation for a night in September for 7 people and we were greeted upon arrival by a very nice bartender who poured me a wonderful vermouth, and other drinks for the rest of my party. We finished our drinks on the terrace and were taken to a lovely round table. We had a suggestion for a red wine by Miguel who was helpful throughout the entire dinner. We shared a bunch of apps and had our own main courses and everything was EXCEPTIONAL! Not a complaint from anyone about anything. We had a glorious time and tried all the desserts and I can’t wait to return. It is a gem in Ubrique and not to be missed. Everything I tried was great so order meat or fish or a bunch of tapas....

Siento decir estas palabras después del tiempo que llevo queriendo ir por ése sitio tan recomendado en alguna que otra página de gastronomía:" Decepción absoluta". Para empezar decoración básica y oscuro, falta luz. Pero para la comida éso no es importante aunque evidentemente, ayuda. Al sentarnos, los cubiertos en la mesa de madera directamente, sin mantel individual de papel ni menos aún de tela. Pedimos pulpo con partmentier de patata, hamburguesa completa y ensalada César para compartir. Había unas 6 personas comiendo. La comida tardó bastante en llegar. La ensalada, básica y escasa de pollo. Sabía principalmente a mayonesa. El pulpo incomible, durísimo (nos comentaron después de llevárselo que era un fallo del proveedor lo cual podría aceptarlo, aunque ésa textura se debe de ver en cocina antes de salir al cliente. Duro, duro. La hamburguesa completa con el pan del frigorífico totalmente frío. Unas patatas y algo de lechuga. Decepción total. Pedimos un plato del día de chipirones del menú del día y tardaron de nuevo otros 20 minutos en traerlo (ya mi hamburguesa estaba más que comida). Tren los chipirones y mi pareja le vuelve a comentar al camarero que no tiene cubiertos para comer. Muy amablemente se los trae en la mano como si fuese mi madre en casa (sin plato ni servilleta de apoyo). Pedimos la cuenta al no querer ni postre ni café del berrenchin. Pagamos y adiós muy buenas. Ni un detalle de un café o algo por las molestias de comer mal y a destiempo. Lo siento pero no volveré ni recomendaré. Pd: para yo no comerme ni...
