Me and my friend was referred to this place for a good wonderful dinner by the owner of the place we stayed in Villafranca. She was so all praise of this place where locals eat according to her. So we went, this is after walking over 20 km that day, we were doing the Camino de Santiago. We were very hungry. To my dismay, we were just standing there, they old guy seemed like disgusted looking at these two pilgrims, that really don't look like locals of course. We waited, no one says a word to us. So my friend who is Spanish speaking talked to the guy, I do not know whether he was the owner or manager. We were told there is no available table, but obviously, there were several tables empty. We requested if we can seat in the bar, where there wasn't any soul setting. WE WERE TOLD, " ABSOLUTELY NOT." I feel sorry for the man, not to ourselves. At least we know how to respect people he does not. I seems to me, if he could only shoo us like animals he would. Don't get me wrong, I have 5 restaurants myself, I know how it is to have bad days. If he does not want to serve us then tell us so with respect. I was at their doorstep ready to spend my not stinking Euros somewhere else. My advice to you sir, Is to learn how to respect other people whatever their looks, color. We are all human beings, with your age I hope you know that. I would not recommend this place to anyone not from this place. I have never experience racism in my entire life. Now I know how it feels.

Best meal on our Camino trip so far. We chose this place because of “down home cooking” and we were happy we made the right decision after a long day or trekking. This family owned place was empty at 9 30 when we went in. There were four local small groups came in after us. The nice lady (daughter of the owner) recommended us some dishes and we went right in. The tripe soup is so wonderful I asked for more. I finished last bits and hoping for more. We ordered lamb chops which is good and we were most impressed by the pickled trout. After consulting her mother, our waitress explained in details the recipe. She also offered unlimited wine for which we did not shy away from. Where can you get a family meal away from home with such an affordable price!
