Awful service. The worst that we have ever experienced!!!! The waiter (owner?) was very rude from the very beginning. All the tables were dirty (except of one or two but these had not the best view)... We have picked one (as knowone was coming to serve us) and he didn't like it - said it is an restaurant (and something else but very fast in Spanish). Then he said he had to eat now and we had to wait 50 mins if we wanted ...so we ordered coffees (wanted a slice of tiramisu but he said there are none left, and then gave another client one slice). We started assuming that maybe he just wanted us to be gone from there because a couple who came 2 mins after us was served properly and received their food (!) very fast.
In the end all became clear for us - this rude guy doesn't like kids (or tourist with kids) - we came there with our one year old boy, it was 3 of us adults and we were taking turns in order not to interrupt others (we always try to do so) but as it is happens sometimes with kids there were a few moments our boy joined at the table.
When we wanted to pay for our coffes, my partner went to the toilet and I took my kid and walked with him (passing other tables) and this guy (waiter / owner?) started shouting at me across the whole restaurant saying that I was at restaurant and shouldn't be walking...when I responded that I had a baby and needed to walk he sarcastically said "oh yes, baby, everything for baby etc" (in Spanish) he also mentioned that this is Spain and in Spain you don't take kids to the restaurant. The whole experience was just very very unpleasant.
Please, if you have kids avoid this place. Also,if you like clean tables and normal, pleasent service - avoid this place!
Such a shame...the cakes that we ordered were very testy. Also the ocean view was amazing...but this all was destroyed and will be remembered as the worse experience during our 6weeks long stay on Lanzarote.
We have been travelling a lot, and visited Spain many many times; have never experienced such behaviour and attitude at the restaurant or anywhere else. Quite an opposite - our impression is that Spanish people react very positively and proactively towards our son.
PS. Kids not welcomed but the owners' dog running everywhere and barking at...
Read moreWe stopped by for lunch on the recommendation of some locals and we were pleasantly surprised! We were the first to arrive when they opened but soon after more tables were being taken. We had: Bread with assorted dips (green and red mojo sauces & a garlic type dip) Meatballs Homemade croquettes (they have a fish filling) Lanzarote cheese Canadian potatoes
It was all very good! All reasonably priced, including soft drinks, and we were given free green olives to start, free refills for the dips as well as a shot of honey rum with the bill.
We’re told the restaurant is run by a couple, the husband runs the front of house waiting etc… whilst the wife cooks the food to order. We had no problem whilst we were there, but if someone visits when it’s busier, bear this in mind if you think the service may be slower than usual (as there’s just two of them!).
Along with this, there is plenty of parking nearby, a short (but hilly) walk to a secluded volcanic beach and a great view of the sea. It may just be the day we visited, but Plata Quemada seems to be quite secluded from the wind so we were able to catch some more warmth.
Overall, would recommend for a good local...
Read moreI loved this place so much, we've been struggling to find an authentic place where we could eat tapas that are traditional, not overpriced and not in extremely tiny portions. The place is run by a couple, and all the sauces are home made (aioli, mojo). The food is amazing, the waiter was extremely nice and explained a bit about the meals and how they're made, I feel like they are trying to use ingredients that are local, since he was explaining that on Lanzarote there are only goats and not cows since we had goat cheese. I really really liked the spicing of the sauces, they were so rich in taste, and I was so happy to not have low quality sauces as side like mayo or ketchup, what you would usually get in Puerto del Carmen, and also apparently the bravas sauce is home made as well, which explains why it was so good! I found the portions big enough, the food extremely tasty and finally some authentic sauces, I was so happy after this meal, I can only whole-heartedly recommend this place! It felt very authentic and it was just what I was...
