O Mirissa Cafe and Bistro — Restaurant in Southern Province

My partner and I had already been in Sri Lanka for 5 days and we’re delighted to have found this AMAZING PLACE! It was truly the first meal we ate where there were no flies or dogs and cats walking through the restaurant casually. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, with a wonderful beach atmosphere. The kitchen is open so saw our food being prepared, the chefs were properly dressed and very clean in their preparation.

We ordered the tomato soup which was absolutely delicious! This was accompanied with wonderful bread and bruschetta which we ordered separately. For our mains, we ordered the gambino pizzas (prawn pizza) and the mushroom risotto, both were exceptionally well done!! The peach ice tea is also a must try!!

Our waiter Waruna was warm and super friendly! My only regret is not being able to come back as we were on our way to Hikkaduwa!

Amazing restaurant, definitely...

We came here for dinner three times. The first time had lasagna and tuna steak. Both dishes were great, fresh and filling. We were really happy. The second time we had vegetable wrap (no protein at all, no cheese, no eggs, no beans) and pumpkin soup. The soup was ok but the bowl was only half full, a really small portion. It was accompanied with a dry hard piece of supermarket bread. It would be nice to get a bigger portion or homemade bread for 500 rupees soup. The third time we had prawns with mash potatoes and carrots salad for 1100 rupees. Only four prawns, small pile of mash and about one spoon of carrot salad. Really small portion!! In conclusion, the food is fresh and high quality but quite overpriced and small portions. If you're ok to pay around 2000-3000 rupees for person for a starter, main course and a drink, then you will be sated and satisfied....

Currntly best family restaurant in Mirissa/Weligama? We've stayed in Weligama for a week now, dining both in Weligama and Mirissa. Have been following popular vote on Google and TripAdvisor. In our opinion, hands down the best dinner experience so far. Swift service, orders taken in a POS, but foremost excellent food that came so much faster than expected. We had ordered, eaten an payed our bill in about 1h15mins (drink and main course) for 7 people with a more or less full restaurant.
