Sanara Mandira — Restaurant in Western Province

I recently attended my brother's Homecoming on September 14, 2024, at this reception hall, and unfortunately, the service was far from satisfactory.

While some of the food was acceptable, the Chicken Curry was terrible. There were delays in refilling the food, requiring us to remind staff multiple times. The same issues occurred with the welcome drinks; We were really disappointed with our experience. When some guests arrived late, nobody was there to greet them or offer drinks. It felt very unwelcoming, and we had to ask the steward ourselves. This lack of service made the whole experience frustrating.

Additionally, when the couple arrived, there was no one to hold the main door for them, so my husband and I had to do it. The groom even had to light the candle himself without any support from the staff—this is quite unprofessional.

We were disappointed with our visit. Although they claim to offer unlimited bites and soft drinks, we were informed in the middle of our function that both were no longer available for tables, despite our guests requesting bites. The staff was unhelpful and rude when we inquired. However, I did appreciate that the bar had enough bites available.

The venue advertised a capacity of 160-200 guests, but they struggled to even reach 150. The people in the back had no air conditioning, and when we inquired about it, they said it was due to overcrowding. This was misleading and created an uncomfortable environment for our guests.

Moreover, we were told there would be a dance floor and taken it from another hall. but there was none. The table decorations were also changed without our approval.

Our function was scheduled to end at 11:30 PM, but starting around 10:30 PM, the hotel staff began packing up their dinner (Packets) while our guests were still trying to eat. It was unacceptable. The coordinator or manager just stood there doing nothing, completely ignoring the situation. This lack of professionalism was extremely disappointing.

Horrible experience at this restaurant. We went for lunch, and the entire restaurant was empty. However, there was an obnoxious amount of noise coming from a party in the building. People were yelling, the smell of cigarettes was prominent in the restaurant, making this an incredibly unpleasant and uncomfortable place to dine in.We then ordered, however soon after decided that we would take out instead of eat in because of the frankly horrendous atmosphere in the space. The waiter said okay and left. HOWEVER he only informed us when we went to pay, that the price for the SAME DISHES had now increased, just because we wanted to take out. He had not informed us that their was a separate take out menu with higher prices when we asked for take out, which was unacceptable when he then asked for a much bigger price. He then said we could pay the original price WITH a service fee which amounted to even more money. Ridiculous also considering we did nothing but sit there. What service was there to pay for? Tried the food, definitely not worth the price. We also saw the person who packaged our food sneeze multiple times in the restaurant into his hand and did not seem to wash his hands. My brother's wedding was on August 22 at the reception hall on the ground floor. Receptionist said that a coordinator would be provided for the day of the wedding, but no one was there that day. When we want to say something, we have to find the receptionist and say it. We Choosed the infinity wedding package. No lights in the Poruwa. The groom himself lit the candle in lighthning the oil lamp. Even when the cake cutting was planned to be held in the evening there is an empty table in front of Settyback since morning. And we should also ask to bring the welcome drink. They took about 10 minutes to prepare the Milk Fountain. Until then, groom and bride have to wait.
