BASTA - Gävle — Restaurant in Gävle kommun

On a very cool and rainy October afternoon, my husband and I visited Basta and had a great restaurant experience. Stepping inside, we were met with a visual treat before us created by a warm and sparkling decor of lights, glass work, mirrors, wood and elegant flooring. Additionally, our seating was comfortably cozy, designed in an appealing combination of fabrics complimenting the room’s palette of vibrant color. This was our second visit to Basta and another chance to appreciate their good food served on beautifully designed plates that evoke traditional dining style. But the very best aspect of this special place is the people who work there. Both times we’ve visited we were kindly welcomed and immediately made to feel at home by a team of people who are notably gracious and greet you as friends. An exceptional member of their staff is Sean, who met us at our table and thoughtfully checked to see that we were enjoying our meal while he also gave us the opportunity to be relaxed and unrushed during our lunch. And as if this weren’t enough, our two sweet dogs were able to join us and they happily curled up under the table, close to the big bowl of fresh water that was kindly presented to them by Sean upon our arrival! Good location, dog allowed started out nicely, very friendly. We immediately got a couple of nice kids menus they could draw and colour on. The pup also got a water bowl without needing to ask. The spot was too loud however with fountain outside and speaker right above. And unfortunately we never got our food because they didn't seem to have put it in the system. No apologies either and they never told us I just spotted them tapping away at the terminal after asking if we had got our food yet, so I went to cancel it before they started actually cooking - hence 2 star -- I am sure it is nice under normal circumstances but this time our...

Good food, great service, I didn't quite like the atmosphere. Starting with the food, I had a Pizza Napolitana and it was really good, perfectly put together. I also had Carbonara and it was alright, nothing exceptional but still nice. Staff was professional and I didn't have to wait long for service, got my drink right away and refill without waiting time. Finally the decorations and atmosphere. I didn't quite like the location next to a parking garage, It wasn't really clear to me if I was in the right resturant at first because the decorations didn't quite give the Italian vibes.
