THE FOOD The food at this restaurant surely tasted nice and I liked the variation in the menu, however no risks are taken at all either, leaving the experience slightly lack luster. I tasted my fiance's Fajita mix (Pork, beef and shrimp) which tasted very nice 5/7.
I ordered a ribeye steak, medium rare. When I finally got it after a fairly long (30-45min) wait (was to be expected though since the restaurant was packed!) The steak was far from the degree of doneness ordered.
To me, a steak that is medium rare is mostly pink, with a warm red center (25-50% red). This steak however was barely touched at first it seems, it was rather blue to me. That however is not a big problem, I just asked the employees to fix it, and they helped me rather fast.
When the meat was returned to me, it still had a roughly 70% red center. When I told this to the employee who came to check up on me, and this is where my gripe lies, she simply responded that that is the way their medium rare is. I dread to try their rare steak, thinking that it probably is completely raw. This brings the score down from 5 to 4.
THE LOCALE Designwise it is dark and rather cosy, with a lot of windows. The decoration itself is not too risque or tacky, except for a rather offensively tacky native American head with feathers and all on one of the walls.
The men's restroom unfortunately had a broken toilet lid, which is pretty unsanitary, especially for a restaurant. There were also a few other things that were lacking in the restroom, however these problems alone do not drag down the score.
In the dining area on the other hand they had what I suspect was a ventilation fan motor which had rather poor bearings causing there to be a shrill whining noise in the background of our entire 2,5 hour stay. This, while also headache inducing, unfortunately brings the score down to a 3.
I imagine that the problems I experienced with the locale are temporary, and will be fixed shortly.
The steaks however, if they are going to keep insisting that what they served me was medium rare, I would advise you to go for the medium.
I want to give this restaurant a better review, but simply can't unless these problems are fixed. I cannot recommend this place if you want a great steak. However the pricing was very reasonable, to end on...
Read moreWe were a group of eight people who decided to try a three-course dinner at this restaurant. Unfortunately, the dining experience was way below expectations. Except for the Chicken Fajitas, which were the only edible item, none of the dishes lived up to expectations. Everything was dry and overcooked, from burgers and chicken wings to pork fillet and chicken breast. Particularly bad were the ribs, which seemed to have been at least a couple of days old.
The food was served quickly, but it was hard to ignore the fact that most of it seemed reheated and refried, except for the fries. It's really difficult to understand how a chef with professional pride can send out food of this standard. The only positive was the very friendly and helpful waitress working that evening, a shame that the food was so far from the excellent service we received from her.
In summary, this was a big disappointment. I hope the restaurant takes note of the feedback to improve the food quality and ensure a more satisfying experience for future guests; we will definitely not...
Read moreWe ate here early August on a late week day afternoon (around 4pm). The main courses were lovely. I had the deer steak and it was wonderful - it was cooked well and presented on a bed of vegetables with potato wedges on the side. My wife is vegetarian and had a number of options to chose from on the menu.
Sadly, the desert wasn't quite up to the same standard - both of our deserts contained ice cream, and it was clear that the ice cream at some point had defrosted and been re-frozen as it had a shell of ice and some mouthfuls mostly tasted like lots of little ice shards instead of ice-cream. Otherwise though, the deserts were also well prepared and the other parts of the desert were good.
Overall, a good experience though and we'd definitely go back if we are in...
