Röda Stens Restaurant prides itself as a vegetarian-/vegan-friendly, but the non-lunch menu is offering very little in that regard with just a Meze plate available (next to some fika items). While the atmosphere is great, the food quality alright and the prices fair, this is still a massive let-down in that regard. Nevertheless, the Meze plate is good, if not really authentic and definitely not close to the better ones you can have in Gothenburg, it’s something I can come back to and be content with. At only 169 SEK this is really nothing to complain about. But, sometimes I would like to see some more inspiration on the menu as is done during lunches. And in all honesty, I think for lunches this is a horrible location and way too secluded if you don’t happen to work 10 minutes walk away.

We came in to a relatively cosy restaurant. We ordered risotto and fish. I asked to replace the seafood sauce with avocado cream sauce and there was no problem with that. So far so good. When we went to pick up the food, we were told that the fish has avocado sauce as we asked. When we tried it, it was only mayonnaise with no avocado traces in it . The risotto was so salty that after two or three spoons, it was almost impossible to digest it. We went to the girl that ordered the food and stood at the cashier and asked her to tell it to the kitchen. She said (with half bored half indifferent look) that they are aware of the over salted risotto and she will say it to the cook. No apologies and nobody came to talk with us. DON’t GO THERE! Extremely expensive. It's in a cool place, but not everyone might like it. And it is in a quite remote area, you need to park (and pay for it), and walk to the café hoping to get a sit. Nothing wrong with that, but if it is busy you have no other options than going back to your car. Anyway, I went there with kids. They wanted an ice cream, there is only 1 option, good I have to say, but expensive. We ordered some desserts as well well and I ordered a Aranciata San Pellegrino... 45kr! What?
