I recently visited Pitchers in Helsingborg for an hour of bowling, and I can honestly say it was one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences I’ve ever had at a bowling alley. If you take bowling even slightly seriously—whether you’re an amateur or a pro—this is not the place for you.
Let’s start with the most absurd part: the pins are hanging from strings! Yes, you read that right. Each pin is attached to a rope, turning the entire experience into a parody of real bowling. The system is so unreliable that it sometimes registers a strike when it’s not, and other times the ropes hold the pins in place so a clear strike doesn’t even count. It’s like playing pool where the balls refuse to go into the pockets, no matter how perfectly you aim. How can you even call this bowling? For professional bowlers, it should be illegal to compete here—the system is so fundamentally broken that it ruins the entire sport’s integrity.
And then there’s the LED lighting. I was hoping for a cool, modern atmosphere where the lights might sync with the music or flash green to signal your turn to bowl. But no, the lighting feels like something someone carelessly threw up in their living room without the slightest thought for aesthetics or function. It’s not even a gimmick—it’s just annoying and cheap. It feels like whoever installed the lights didn’t even bother to configure them properly. How hard can it be?
The price? Absolutely not worth it. Paying a premium price for an hour of this farce is a joke. If I ever considered coming back here (which I won’t), I wouldn’t pay more than 100 SEK per hour—and even that feels generous for what’s offered. This isn’t real bowling; it’s a poor imitation that leaves a bitter aftertaste.
My advice: If you love bowling and expect a functioning lane, accurate scoring, and an atmosphere that enhances the experience, choose another...
Read moreI appreciate that new places need to get settled and that sometimes things are not running smoothly. But something is wrong fundamentally. If you sit at the bar there’s no way to look at any of the TVs in a straight way. You either need to turn or twist your back, strange concept for a place that calls itself sports bar.
Sitting at a bar usually gives you the benefit of the attention of the bar staff, meaning drinks getting served quickly, but not here. Here they manage to ignore people, I mean I have saved some money, since I have been there 3 times.
The atmosphere on the ground floor is comparable to the waiting room of the Accidents & Emergency department of the Helsingborg hospital. Bright lights, floor to ceiling clear glass windows.... no cosy feeling at all.
Bowling is fun, but if only 9 pins go down if though you have a strike, that’s frustrating. Sometimes you get a strike even though you only hit 8 pins... a cheap string set up makes it possible. Playing pool is also fun since the tables are situated close to the end of the bowling. Every time a bowling ball is hitting home you think the entire building is a bout to collapse...
I had high hopes, also based on the old pitchers in Helsingborg, but this here is a bad and sad joke. I’ll check back in a couple of weeks again and hope things will have changed for the better.
Two stars for the staff, they are friendly once you got their attention. The other star is for the food which is ok...

Here they say “sports for everyone”! Yet It’s not true.
So I called asking if they are passing tonight a champion league game.
The employee that answered the phone went and check, and after said “sorry we don’t. Tonight’s game the we gonna show is the Swedish team, and we gonna pass that game”. So I have answered- “but it’s not even possible with so many tv’s, just put that game?” Which he have answered -“no!!! we have some reservations and will not be possible!”
So this is not a sports pub for everyone. It’s just for Swedish. And the customer service it’s super bad, because it not even trying to have all type of customers, just some specific. Plus if at the same time was others Swedish teams playing, will they pass all of them? Or will pass just one specific game/sport? (In that case it’s not even a sports pub)! I can feel some discrimination!
But it’s even worst Because I went to check the games and
Djurgårdens if - Apoel (conference league) it’s at 18:45
And
Fc Dynamo Kyiv - Benfica it’s at 21:00 So the Swedish game have already have finished
So this is not just discriminating but super bad customer service. Definitely not wanting foreigners...
