My wife and I went to Arctic Thai & Grill during our visit to Kiruna in March 2018. We went to this restaurant after having looked at some reviews and also because it was virtually next door to Kiruna Room & Hostel, where we stayed. As we were in Arctic Sweden we were not really expecting authentic food, but we were pleasantly surprised to find out that the food was top quality. Both our dishes had a good amount of spice and Asian flavor to them and the food was prepared really quickly. I also really loved the fact that you could help yourself to a buffet of different kinds of salads and biscuits.
One negative point about the place is that they accept only cards (no cash) and not all cards work (my mastercard that worked perfectly well everywhere else, did not work here). Thankfully, the kind lady at the counter accepted my cash and used her card to pay. However we had no such luck when we came by the next day for lunch and hence had to find another restaurant. Overall, we loved the food and would definitely come back provided our credit cards...

Prices are reasonable for Sweden, especially this far north, and the food is pretty good. My Tom Yum Kung was thickened with coconut cream to the point that it resembled a curry, but I understand that Europeans have a different idea of what qualifies as soup. At any rate, it was still delicious and there were probably over a dozen pieces of shrimp, along with mushrooms. My mother’s basil chicken was also good - we only wished we had more rice to go with everything!
There’s also a salad bar, with bread and drinks (lingonberry, coffee/tea) included in the price, and even some cookies for dessert. The bathroom is also clean. Just note that the entrance to the parking lot is on Adolf Hedinsvägen - it wasn't clear on my GPS or through the snow so I missed it once and had to go...
Read moreI recently visited Arctic Thai & Grill and had an average experience overall. The food was decent, but nothing particularly outstanding. The menu had a good variety of options, but the flavors and execution were average at best.
One issue that detracted from the experience was the bathroom. It was missing any means of drying hands, which was inconvenient and unsanitary. It would have been a small but appreciated touch to have paper towels or a hand dryer available.
Despite these issues, the service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. The prices were reasonable for the area, but not particularly cheap.
Overall, while Arctic Thai & Grill was not a standout dining experience, it could be a good option for a quick and decent meal in the area. Just be aware of the bathroom issue and temper your expectations for the...
