Sautéed Reindeer and Moose with Fries
This shop is a small little food truck housed outside a petrol station. It is unique in two facets. The first is its dining area, an erected Sami-inspired tent directly opposite. Secondly, and more importandly, is that it sells “ethnically” inspired dishes made with reindeer and moose.
I opted for a half-and-half of reindeer and moose, a set that came with fries, pickled onions and Worcestershire-infused mayo. The meat was stir fried with onions and bacons, and tasted exactly like something out of a zichar shop. It came across like a bootleg version of black pepper venison, one that lacked the complexity of spring onions and bell peppers. But what was lacking in common zichar parlance, was compensated by the “exotic” meats.
The moose is as above. As for the reindeer, it was unimpressionable. Texturally, it was similar to venison. For those who haven’t had venison, think lean pork but 50% more tender. Flavour wise, reindeer meat came across as a mix of beef and lamb, but with significantly less gaminess. The gaminess was sufficiently moderate for the meat to be additionally palatable, featuring a minute amount of sous bois and brettanomyces.
Not as unique and attractive as moose, but an interesting meat...
Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting a food truck in Kiruna that offered a delightful culinary experience. This food truck not only served mouthwatering burgers but also came highly recommended for its unique Moose and Reindeer mix served with crispy fries. The taste was nothing short of excellent, and it left me completely satisfied.
To accompany my meal, I opted for a warm lingonberry juice, which was the perfect complement to the flavors of the dish. What made this food truck even more special was the option to wait and dine inside a cozy yurt with an open fire. The atmosphere was incredibly inviting, with the crackling fire adding warmth to the chilly Kiruna weather.
The staff at the food truck were not only efficient but also exceptionally friendly. They went out of their way to engage in friendly conversations with the guests, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.
In conclusion, I highly recommend this food truck to anyone visiting Kiruna. The combination of outstanding food, a cozy atmosphere, and welcoming staff makes it a must-visit spot in this...
Read moreCame here following all the amazing reviews. We got the stejk sub mix, recommended on the menu as well. We got to sit in the tent which is super nice and it elevates this whole experience.
We got the sub delivered to the table, super cool. The meat itself was really nice, but i did notice it was overall dry and it could use some sauce. Couldn’t figure out if we had to go get our own sauce or something but figured this is it.
Going out, we did check if there is a place to get sauce or something to put on the sub and lo and behold we check the ingredients. They had forgotten to add the sauce and melted cheese to the sub (absolutely none in the sandwich for both me and my wife).
The place is great but I definitely did not get to try the real thing, since it was missing crucial ingredients. So watch out for that.
3 stars since i did think if I could have noticed and gone to them for the missing ingredients earlier but as first timers, no. And it’s a 200 sek sandwhich on top of that. The meat and the tent were great, so...
