Pastabacken — Restaurant in Luleå kommun

During our slightly-over-a-week stay in Luleå we visited "Pastabacken" for dinner 3 times. Why? Because the food was amazing!

The restaurant is quite popular and also not that big - so a reservation is highly recommended. I guess we were lucky to get a table the first time we went there (without a reservation) but not getting a table shouldn't be a reason to leave a negative, 1-star review (I've read a few dramatic ones. Chill, people.)

The staff is generally very friendly and helpful - especially Kristoffer - which is the son of the owner. The pizzas are very good, the starters incredible (I can absolutely recommend "Provoletta" and "Chorizo Pocho Poblete").

When it comes down to the main course.... it would be a crime to go to "Pastabacken" and not try the "Kristoffers Special". This is one of the tastiest dishes I've had in a long time! Those thin slices of beef at the bottom, the tortellini, all that molten cheese and spicy sauce...divine !

If you appreciate tasty food - when in Luleå you HAVE to go to...

This is a pizza/pasta restaurant with fairly low prices. Considering that, the quality goes with it : the food tastes good but nothing extraordinary. The service staff -a young lady- is very nice but it isn't helping the fact that the kitchen is not friendly and the ambiance is really not welcoming. Either you can sit upstairs, where there is no music except the annoying sound of a rotating fan on the ceiling or you can sit downstairs, where there is no window and therefore is quite dark and suffocating on crowded days. It feels like the place has potential but nothing is really done to try to make an effort in making this restaurant look alive and welcoming. Vegan options are on request and are obviously annoying...

Blev respektfullt mött vid dörren och fick fort plats och meny. Ägaren kom fram och började lyriskt prata med mig, det kändes som att komma hem till en god vän! Efter en kort stund kom min beställning, en krämig pastarätt bestående av Tortellini som var täckt och dränkt av gorgonzola (Kristoffers special). Aldrig förr har jag ätit så god pasta på någon restaurang, ej heller har jag blivit så mätt för såpass lite pengar! Min middag ackompanjerades av glada skratt och sprudlande samtal i köket. Jag kan verkligen inte säga tillräckligt många gånger hur hemma jag kände mig! När det var dags att gå så tog det en stund att få betala då denna restaurang är populär, men till sist fick jag det gjort och gick därifrån efter att ha tagit ägaren i handen.

Fantastisk pastarätter, men även kötträtter och pizza finns på menyn för den som inte gillar pasta. Priset rör sig mellan 75-330 kr per huvudrätt. Tillgängligt för alla med andra ord. Mysig lokal med ganska få platser på övervåningen där jag satt, men det finns även ett källarplan som jag inte besökte. Bra bemötande från personalen, även när den stressigaste tiden på dygnet påbörjades. En extra eloge till Manuel som visade ett stort intresse för mig. Det fanns ingen brist på förståelse eller kärlek hos den mannen, en fantastisk person helt enkelt!

Väntetiden för betalningen blev aningen lång, men jag låter inte detta dra ned mitt betyg. Det är trots allt något man får räkna med när det kommer till populära restauranger med såpass lite personal...
