CALM OASIS OF DINING IN THE MIDDLE OF STOCKHOLM!!! A quick 10 minute Uber ride takes you to the beautiful location of AIRA surrounded by trees, water and boats that immediately relaxes you into almost a vacation like feeling before you even enter the doors. Our group of 8 had booked the Chefs Table and the wine pairing menu (11 total including 2 "blind" tasting that had the group laughing so much as none of us guessed right but it was fun nonetheless) We were welcomed warmly with champagne by Carl (General Manager) and Malin and given a bit of the background of Aira, the building and design and the story and experience they want all their guests to have. We started with a wonderful Antonius caviar (you have to try this amazing caviar!!) and some ice chilled Purity 51 swedish vodka that hit the spot for sure. We were able to tour the wine rooms before being seated at the Chefs Table right in front of the Kitchen so we could not have had a better primte view for the evening if we tried. Throughout the 5 1/2 hour journey into Aria's delicacies we never felt rushed and the service was top notch. The variety of the dishes (I lost count at 15) consumed both tickle your taste buds as well as giving you art visually in the way of food and presentation. Carl, Malin and the entire staff at Aira obviosuly is passionate about their calling and give their best nightly (thanks to a sustainable work schedule as they later explained ,which reduces if not eliminates altogether the typical F&B burnout when yous pend years working at this level of perfection.) By the time we moved to the lounge and enjoyed some pastries, choclate confections and other goodies everyone was over the moon happy, impressed and full!!!!! Thanks to everyone at Aira for giving us all an...
Read moreI think is one of the best restaurants that I've been. It has two Michelin stars but it could perfectly be a three. The ambience, the service, The food, everything is calculated to the millimeter. Stuff is friendly and well trained, they can be extremely polite and formal (Downton Abbey style) or less formal with great sense of humour, it depends what your experience you want to be, they are very quick to sense what's your vibe. The food was fantastic, balanced and soooo tasty. The presentation is beautiful, it makes you wonder... uhhh what's next??. My only tiny tiny complaint is that I missed bread to can finish up all the delicious sauces left on the plates, but that's my personal choice. But thinking about it, probably it make sense to don't have bread, if I have had bread I probably couldn't have finished the tasting menu without feeling like a balloon, after all , we had the tasting menu with and extra dish which made 18 dishes in total. We spent almost 5h there and they flew by so quick , not feeling like waiting around for a second, and that's such an achievement for a restaurant, specially when I'm a heavy smoker and I asked few times to have a cigarette and they took it like troopers, not a single... oh wait! let me ask the kitchen, or sorry the plates are coming now... and I know that's very very difficult to do at this level of coordination between the dining room and kitchen. Anyway , congratulations to all the family of AIRA, we had a wonderful experience including a bon fire in their terrace to enjoy our petite fours and coffees while enjoying the swedish cool night with a cousy...
Read moreAIRA is perhaps a gold standard for what a Michelin-starred restaurant should be.
From the doors first opening to being escorted to a cab, the experience delivered by AIRA is a unique one sitting comfortably above the rest.
The staff shares information and requests about/from the customers among each other, producing a consistent level of uninterrupted service. Simply put, you only need to tell them what you want once, even if informally. It is obvious the staff are all trained and held to the same stringent benchmark.
Located in its own secluded corner of Djurgården, the purpose-built building offers a view and sense of tranquility unmatched by even some of the best hotel restaurants—including Michelin ones—in the world. Its true open-plan kitchen design is also relatively uncommon among high-end dining experiences.
I have to give special thanks to Philip, Carlos, and the sommelier for completing this incredible experience through their exceptional service that puts other one, two, and even three-star...
