Bar Montan, Stockholm.
This fabulous foodie find in Slakthusområdet, near the Globen in Stockholm, is located in a vibrant area in the city's old meatpacking district.
We called in to Bar Montan for a couple of drinks, and we were so taken by the restaurant menu, that we decided to stay. And we were so pleased that we did.
Seated in the dimly lit bar which oozed cool vibes, the cocktails, served by the delightful Ella, were first rate; a top notch Negroni and an excellent Old Fashioned accompanied by some Olives and Cheese-stuffed Peppers.
We were then shown into the modern dining room. Minimalist, neutral chic, with high warehouse ceilings and reeded glass bricks, where our waiter William talked us through the concise but perfectly formed small plates menu. There are some terrific natural and organic wines to choose from, and we thoroughly enjoyed the French Les Moulins white, and a cheekily labelled biodynamic red Grololo from the Loire region.
Each dish was an explosion of fresh flavours and aromas. The plate of Zucchini Fritters was a spin on a pakora, seasoned with warming vindaloo spices, coriander, and nigella, and the pasta dish of Culurgiones was stuffed with mackerel bottarga and served vongole style with clams and parsley.
The Chicken Skewer was smothered in a fruity Mexican mole sauce with sour cream, but the standout dish had to be the delightful Baked Bredsjö Blå; a piquant blue cheese soufflé with charred radicchio, blackberries and a rich chicken jus. Stunning.
We finished our meal with a Duo of Cheese with honeycomb, and a gorgeously rich and salty quenelle of Chocolate Ganache.
The Bar Montan experience was unrushed, unique, and utterly delicious.

Read moreAn amazing Swedish dining experience! Located in a warehouse building where they used to be a slaughterhouse. Up and coming neighborhood.
You can choose to dine in their dining room with a full menu or in the adjoining bar area with a smaller / tapas like menu. We sat in the dining room with a view of their open kitchen.
We started with the zucchini flowers and tomatoes langoustine. The langoustine was very refreshing, light but full of complex flavors of citrus, floral, a slight hint of spice.
For our main, we had the lamb steak perfectly cooked, very tender and bold flavors. The char was also perfectly grilled, with lots of lovely charred grilled vegetables.
Finished with chocolate ganache and a cranberry sorbet, perfect ending to an amazing delicious meal.
Service was friendly...

The minute I walked in, I fell for Bar Montan - currently the hottest drop in Stockholm's up and rising former Meatpacking District. Still a hidden gem; lucky me I got a seat at the bar without a booking because I arrived very early. Later on the restaurant was packed!
Thanks to the amazing guy behind the bar for making my meal special, and so far the most exciting in Stockholm.
Tucked into tastebuds-blowingly good Atlantic char with trout roe, cucumbers and peas, and the best agnello (lamb) tonnato ever. Ooooh, and a first for me: the creamiest Swedish Wrangebäck cheese - delicious.
Loved the dining experience!...
