Read moreSolen attempts to bring the Mediterranean to Stockholm, and does so with ease!
Deep fried calamari, fresh salads, extravagant pastas and meets grilled over open fire. Those are only a handful of the many dishes served at Solen, all presented beautifully and tasting even more so! As someone who isn’t big on deserts, I was surprised to say that the desserts were the best part for me. Borge the crème brûlée and the sticky toffee pudding where to die for!
For drinks there is a wide range of wines to choose from, with labels from all over the world, however, with a focus in wines from the Mediterranean coast. I had a glass of Assyrtiko which went especially nice along with the calamari’s and tostadas, making me feel like I was sitting in a seaside somewhere!
The service was very professional, but unfortunately I lacked a little bit of a personal touch from the front of house. The service wasn’t bad by any means, but a touch of more personality would help bring everything to the next level.
The open and minimalist dining room provides a really nice atmosphere, while also allowing for a view into the open kitchen. During some parts of my visit, the open dining hall proved a little to open though as thing got slightly to loud for a proper dinner conversation.
Overall though, Solen had done a beautiful job at capturing the Mediterranean spirit in their food and drinks, proving that they know what it means to live La Dolce Vita. Looking forward to...
Read moreAmbiance and the service for sure deserves 5 ⭐️. When it comes to food, the experience in general was really good and worth to visit this restaurant but some details need more attention. We ordered two starters; hummus and crusted squid. Squid dish was good together with its sauce and lemon slice 👍 however, hummus does not taste anything familiar with generic ingredients like chickpea, tahini and garlic, so it lacks the taste. Was not easy to decide on the main dishes, we went for charred chicken and spagetti with prawns. Spagetti was delicious, the way prawns were tasted and spagetti being al dente take the credits!!! maybe a bit too much oily but still fine. However, the chicken dish did not satisfy. Because something that is charred sits inside a sauce does not preserve the charness either visually or as a taste. And the portion was small to be a main dish, we had potato fries additionally been ordered. Potato fries was one of the best we have ever tried in any restaurant. But it should be included with the chicken dish. When it comes to desserts, we ordered tiramisu and sticky toffee puding. Wouv toffee puding was extremely sweet, too much sugar probably comes from caramel sauce, it is hard for one person to eat all. l recommend to balance it with brew coffee which was really good and served in a pot. Tiramisu was quite nice, well balanced compared to toffee puding. The wine menu is rich, cocktails are...
