OK, just not amazing, especially for 234kr for breakfast. Be aware the coffee is an extra 45kr.
Being a Brit in Sweden, getting English style bacon is not easy, but there is a butchers shop only 1km away from Greasy Spoon Kungsholmen that sells English bacon. I am unsure why the English breakfast has American style belly bacon. Full English needs English bacon otherwise it's not English, just a dull imitation.
The sausage (only one small one, but from photos other people had 2) tasted pretty good, but had a piece of gristle about the size of the end of my little finger. They seem to lack consistency in portioning.
All in all, the meat products are not a good example of a great full English, when in an English breakfast they are usually the star attraction and everything is the supporting act.
The garlic mushrooms, again taste ok, but they are more lightly fried, with a boiled texture and taste, rather than a nice fried colour and taste to them.
The baked beans, are also decent, just underwhelming. I think they should lean into the homemade baked beans flavour rather than just flirt with it.
Great crispy sourdough toast.
The brew coffee is average at best and Expresso House do refill coffee for less.
I quote their own website, a modern take on a classic British institution. Maybe they should focus more on excellence in executing a classic with better quality products. English greasy spoon cafés are cheap, cheerful and tasty, the Swedish modern take isn't those things. @ 234kr for breakfast, I expect better.
The waiter was really friendly and service was efficient, I commend her and think she did...
Read moreIt seems that they are trying to twist the brunch style. The place is packed and people keep coming in, and this place is popular here for American-Style brunch.
The Salmon Benedict here is really not very good (This is solely my opinion!). It’s cooked on a similar-like hash browns that is combined together like a piece of toast. Not a problem really, but rather the traditional way on sourdough bread seems better. The Hollandaise sauce was mixed with something tasing strange (A little sour and has a hint of an aromatic feel). I didn’t like it. Generally, the whole dish is good, but not more than good. The plus side is the portion! I had a side of mushrooms that I really enjoyed. Their Americano coffee is good.
The inside and outside seating areas are very nice. The service is excellent and fast!
Overall, it’s more on the...
Read moreWhat a disappointment. We came here (Greasy Spoon close to Fridhemsplan) for brunch with the whole family, expecting the same great experience we had back in 2024. But something has clearly gone wrong at this place.
Service was incredibly slow. It took 20 minutes just to take our order, and another 25 to get our food. By the time it finally arrived, our coffee was long gone and not even offered a refill.
The food itself was just as bad. The scrambled eggs were bland and lacked basic seasoning. The avocado smash was overly sour, almost inedible. And the potato rosti? Burnt and bitter, with a terrible aftertaste.
Definitely not worth the price. Sadly, I can’t recommend this place anymore. Overpriced, slow, and deeply...
