We came here for a date night, and the whole evening far exceeded our expectations. We went for the âHavsriketâ fish tasting menu, and I swapped the crudo for the beef tartare. That tartare ended up being one of those rare dishes you keep thinking about long after the meal. Iâm already craving it again. Perfectly seasoned, beautifully balanced, and simply unforgettable. My wife kept the Crudo and loved it as well.
Halfway through the menu, just before the gnocchi course, we broke things up with a round of oysters. We were sitting at the counter facing the chefs, saw a beautiful oyster platter being served, and simply couldnât resist.
Another highlight was actually the cheese dish that we chose instead of dessert. It came with a tomato marmalade made by one of the chefsâ mothers, and honestly, it was insanely good. Such a simple combination, yet absolute magic.
The whole experience at Matateljén was warm, personal, and creative without being pretentious. The menu is well thought out, the flavors are spot on, and every dish was really good.

Read moreMy wife had been previously and was roaring about the place. Fair to say, I was quite excited to try it myself. Unfortunately, I came out with a fairly mixed experience. Yes, the food is great and excels at that 'casual' gastro take. But the portion size has gone ridiculously small. Looking at pictures from prior reviews, it seems this is a very acute case of shrinkflation: 6 brussels sprouts cut in half with a few drop of sauces for 140 SEK is an absolute joke. So I advise the team to go back to the basics: the great food they make...but without taking patrons for a dumb open wallet because that simply ruins one's experience (leaving them with no choice but to buy some bullar at the bakery opposite the road...
Read moreAs we weren't super hungry we split 4 dishes on 2 people (7 was recommended for 2, and I would say at least that if you're hungry or a moderately big eater) plus two desserts. Sadly only one of the dishes came near a wow experience and that was the atlantic cod in a fluffy butter sauce. The rest of the dishes were fine but could have tasted much more. A lot of wine and beer to choose from, but sadly a bit less of a choice when it came to non-alcoholic beverages. What will make us come back is the amazing service, the staff were attentive without making us feel stressed and happily answered questions we had about the food.
