MGL Sushi — Restaurant in Stockholm

Firstly there was no welcome at the door, it feel like they just wanted your money. When you asked the chef about the dishes they spoke Mongolian/Turkish “behind” your back to not understand them. When the waitress dropped the food of, she was not able to explain what kind of fish there was on the sashimi plate. The atmosphere was TERRIBLE!!

Talking about the quality of the food, well if you think this is Japanese you are completely lost. The dishes were 90% mayo and the rest was sweet rice. We ordered couple of different dishes such as the “tempura deluxe” it tasted like mayo and rice, then we ordered 9 pieces nigiri, the salmon looked and tasted like it was bought from a cheap super market. Never a Nigiri covers the whole piece of rice, very rookie made. We spent 400 kr for two people for a bad replica of “Japanese” food.

Great atmosphere but unfortunately it doesn't hold up. I always place a special order and sometimes it comes with an extra cost. At this location it was just told it's not possible (I order specific parts, nothing complicated).

That aside we were very disappointed that the sushi rolls had crab stick fillings (for me unacceptable) and the vegetarian rolls had just plain sallad (most of filling), cucumber and avokado. It's not that hard to pickle something for taste. I'm usually forgiving and understanding, but I cannot understand how this place is rated over 4. Classy deco. High quality sushi and food overall. Seating in the restaurant is cosy. In summer, it is possible to dine alfresco on the terrace. The neighborhood is calm during the weekends. Best time to visit for a quiet, crowd free meal is around 1600 - 1800. Staff is friendly and wait for the food is usually around 20-30mins. It's easy to find parking. By public commute, closest stations are Tvärbanan - Årstadal (walk 5 mins) or Tunnelbanan/Metro red line - Liljeholmen (walk 15mins).
