Café Volta — Restaurant in Sundbybergs kommun

Beware! Avoid this place if you are vegan or if you are going as a group and anyone is vegan because there is basically nothing to eat. There are NO vegan dishes on the menu (or at least when I went). Maybe I should have checked before but I was shocked because ya know its 2025 and the place looks quite modern and not conservative. I eat out in Stockholm all the time and it’s never been an issue. Sad that for EVERY dish the kitchen feels it is necessary to exploit and kill animals for their flesh and bodily secretions. I was queueing so long before I realised there’s zero vegan food that I then just tried to ask them to make their hummus & halloumi salad bowl vegan by replacing the halloumi with grilled peppers or something (I saw that was an ingredient in another dish). Anyway the salad arrived eventually and it was just very basic, I could have thrown it together at home, no dressing. I don’t know if it was to replace halloumi but there were some defrosted mango chunks (like you find at salad bar in a supermarket), no grilled peppers to be seen. It tasted very bland. This is a very cosy cafe with a wide range of dishes, cakes and drinks. We got a tuna sandwich and two Club sandwiches withe a latte, a blueberry youghurt-ish smoothie and a Snapple Mango (specified with 0.5% mango ??!!) The tuna sandwich looked nice and was very well made. The tuna salad was perfectly seasoned. The Club sandwiches had butter fried white bread some nicely cooked chicken but I could identify the specified chili Mayo or the pesto. The bread was crunchy but still soaked in butter (with oil??) and the sandwich really missed some acidic feel.. The total experience was a very uniform taste with a too mushy substance that I could not identify. The salad was pretty basic with some leaves, cucumber and a few slices of tomato. It was served with chips from a plastic bag which I did not touch. I would expect home made potato chips / boats instead. Found this place when we were in the neighborhood for a Migrationsverket appointment. Now I’m seriously considering moving here just to have this as my local cafe. The service was fast, all the food looked incredible, and the coffee hit the spot! I got a croissant (half gone in the pic cuz it was so good) and a cappucino freddo, both delicious. I’ve been trying to track down a good cappucino freddo in Stockholm since having a tasty introduction to them in Albania. So so happy to have found this place.
