Melanders — Restaurant in Täby kommun

We visited Melanders based on a recommendation from for seafood from locals.

The lobster advertised on the Swedish menu outside looked appealing at a fair price. Once seated, we were given the English menu, where only the significantly more expensive lobster was listed. When I asked for the lobster shown outside, I was told it was unavailable and was instead offered a substitute by the chef.

The substitute was two small crabs with little meat. It felt like paying the lobster price for something that had very little value.

When leaving, we passed the seafood counter and noticed that lobsters were still available for sale. This made it even harder to understand why the dish shown on the menu outside could not be served.

The oysters we ordered were fine, but despite being listed at very different prices and sources, they tasted almost identical, which left us questioning if we really received the varieties we had ordered, especially after the mixed feelings about the lobster/crabs.

The whole experience gave us the impression that visitors are not treated equally and that tourists are an easy target for overpriced substitutions.

Service was okay-ish.

All in all, I cannot recommend this place. The food we received simply wasn’t worth the price we paid, and the feeling of having been taken advantage of...

There's a deli outside and some tables but if you want to buy some crayfish and sit there and eat, the answer is no. You have to go into their restaurant and order. Crayfish is blend, the brine is flavourless. Meatball in the other hand is quite good especially withe the fresh berry suase. No English menu again. And because we didn't order any wine so we as seen as less important to...

Wonderful shrimp and crab buffet on a Wednesday night, a good selection of breads, cheese and salads available on the buffet. Others at my table had fish and chips, and they really enjoyed it. The restaurant is large and spacious, friendly staff and good atmosphere. It is next to the outside area of the mall, which allows kids to run around while the adults...
