The food at this restaurant does not live up to its good reviews and ratings. I wanted to try out this restaurant based on its rating of 4.2, but unfortunately it would turn out to be a great disappointment. I and another company ordered several dishes from the menu to get a fair taste of what they had to offer. The first noticeable thing was their portioning - way too small for what you pay for. I was expecting a plate of flavourful samosas but was only served 1 med-sized one which tasted bland and extremely doughy as if just eating bread. A dish I ordered being the lamb Korma (which costs more than the chicken Korma btw, so I expect the quality to meet the higher pricing) was the meat served extremely tough and dry. When placing this complaint forward to the waiter / staff that day he would first debate it with me, then after sending it back to the kitchen, to then come out with a 'New dish' - reheated again in another sauce (not the same kind - more oily) for the meat to of course be served dry on the inside again. If a customer is making a complaint about the poor condition/cooking of the food which should be clearly noticeable by the chef without the customer telling them so, then most likely it means your chef is not up to scratch. It is already an awkward situation as a customer to have to make any complaints about the food to the personnel whatsoever, so never appreciate when someone on top of that makes your complaints feel invalid that you have to prove yourself to them when all they need to do is just check the food for themselves before it is sent out. Won't be...
Read moreI'm writing this specially based on the customer service. I took the lunch buffet. Since I don't eat meat I asked for some fish as the fish dish had only 3-4 pieces. And also the naan was cold. Naan should always eat in hot. So I asked this bold hair asian guy who was at the reception to get some fish and make the naan hot. First he refused and then he finally agreed to make it. After a while naan was there, but it didn't taste good. Yet I again asked since the fish was still not there. Then he argued with me that they filled it and I had eaten all and asking for more! This was really ridiculous! Honestly, they haven't put any into the dish. I didn't want to argue with such people. I was the last person to start the buffet, because of that might be they treated like that. Or maybe because I'm a student. But anyway, this is terrible customer service.
However I have to admit that there are two girls and one good man at the reception (probably working at the dinner time), who are very nice and serve well. Unfortunately, they were not there the other day.
**So this message is to the restaurant: Please take care of your customer service and recruit polite staff. It's such a nice place. But because of these impolite people, you might get negative reviews and less...
Read moreI am originally from India and I would like all people in Umea or who is willing to visit this place to inform that this is not a genuine Indian Restaurant but is owned by people from Bangladesh. The food served is neither authentic nor original from India. I had the worst food of my life last week in this restaurant. None of the dishes served are de-facto from India. There is a simple curry prepared with tomato, onion, garlic and some spices and is served with either chicken or vegetables in it. I was served Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese) Pakoda in curry as 'Paneer Hindustani'. Their chefs are Bangladeshi and I am sure none of the Indian Chef would serve such badly cooked food. We asked for Mango ice cream and they served Vanilla flavor with tinned mango sauce which was stale and bitter.
Even its morally incorrect that they use the name 'Gandhi'. They are creating illusion using this famous name of Mahatma Gandhi and by hanging his picture on the wall as well as keeping some...
