Köksbaren — Restaurant in Umeå kommun

Two of us ordered the pescitarian option of the tasting menu, which would be of the same level as the usual menu. Mostly the options were very good, but the alternatives of the meat centred dishes were completely vegetarian. Not to be picky, but in comparison of the raw beef I would have been very satisfied with a raw slab of salmon instead of a poorly cooked broccoli.

Instead of the entrecote (the star if the evening) it would have been nice to have something like some mussels or a smoked piece of fish instead of a piece of cabbage. I appreciate an alternative but it should be at the same level of expertise as the cooking of meat.

The other fish based dishes were wonderful, I just hoped the options we asked for could live up to at least 50% of the meat centred ones. In the restaurant you can obviously prepare dishes based on fish, so it would have been nice to have a small piece of fish/clam instead of a...

I had the full menu with wine pairing at Köksbaren, and it was absolutely outstanding. Every dish was spot on – thoughtful, seasonal, and full of flavor. The real highlight, though, was the wine pairing. Each glass matched the food perfectly and really elevated the whole experience. You can tell they truly understand what they’re doing, both in the kitchen and with the wine list.

Great selection of both wine and beer. Pre dinner snacks and starter had good options. We shared a pre snack, two kinds of meat and some homemade bread.

We took a beer each for this, Janne Shuffle, a nice lager.

We skipped starters and went for lambchops and beef tenderloin with potato gratin with a layer of gruyere cheese with greenpepper sauce on the side.

I had some red ale (Röbäck) and the other part had a nice red wine (Côte du Rhône).
