Bastard Burgers — Restaurant in Umeå kommun

In short: trendy place, long waiting times, mediocre food. This place is trying really hard to be yet another hipster burger joint with trendy interior and clientele and it has succeeded in both. But at the same time it misses the most essential thing for a restaurant, the food itself. Hamburgers were soggy and lacked taste and texture. Chicken wings were cooced fine but also lacked taste and missed one component (celery). Restaurant does not serve to tables but customers are given devices which will alert when the food is ready for pickup. This combined with a quite long waiting time (57 min) indicates that this restaurant is also understaffed. Restaurant has opened quite recently so all this could be just starting difficulties. Let's hope they get their act together because it really could be so...

Our 40 minutes waiting time was 57 minutes. The waiting still isn't the reason for just 3 *. Burgerbun was soggy and it made the whole Burger kinda mushy. Would've liked more something to bite. Burger was also lacking taste and acidity. Fries were crispy, plus for that. Wings were quite good, the portion was lacking celery, so no freshness was included. Wings came with bbq-style sweet sauce (I prefer mine with proper hotsauce) and bluecheese dip.

We left with our bellies full but unsatisfied because of the problems with food.

Pretty good burgers and especially tasty vegan equivalents! The fries aren’t bad either, especially the sweet potato ones if you’re into that. Plenty of seatings are offered and there are a number of different kind of tables, as well as seatings - made even for bigger groups of a dozen or so people.

A big plus is that you can pre-order (and pay) through the website, then pick up the food once it’s ready - or even eat-in at that time! The estimated time for pick-up is pretty off the walls though, it seems like to be some kind of standards estimation; doesn’t matter how busy the restaurant is...
