Hungry you walk in to an Indian restaurant, as you do when you can smell the spices. There’s one catch though, at this restaurant you don’t sense the Indian spices. It’s not genuine is the first thought that comes to mind entering this mediocre interior. Even if the interior is mediocre the food can be extraordinary, which I have encountered a various of time across the globe dining Indian food. Considering the marketing outside saying they serve the best Indian food in Umeå, how bad can it be? To begin the dining experience I was encountered with a not so service minded waiter. It takes two walks to our table for the waiter to confirm three identical meals with two beers and one coke. I get that you want to be precise but with approximately 10 other guests in the restaurant you should remember the order. Time goes, it goes slowly. Thanks to the big clock on the train station you are perfectly able to time the chef. It took embarrassing long time for our food to arrive, nearly one hour. This is not impressive considering the amount of guests. Hungry as I am I try to let the time aspect go and dig in to a hopefully tasteful dinner. It’s not a good sight looking at you metal plate full of blend food. Nothing really taste much. The chicken stew was the best three spoons on this plate. It was edible but not more than that. The chicken stew had a very unappealing taste of acidity from I guess Heinz chili sauce or ketchup. 175kr is a good price but not for normal basmati rice that you could cook better at home. I am an experienced Indian food enjoyer and I have never been served this type of rice ever before. Usually you get served a long basmati rice where every rice is separated. This rice was worse than the rice you got in school. After devouring my meal in five minutes I am not fulfilled as you usually are after an Indian meal, thankfully they refill your stews for free. Me and my two companions decided that we had to go for another round of the one edible stew of dry chicken. It took us 35 minutes to get contact with the waiters. Every time they walked in to the dining hall their backs were turned against the guest. You felt unwelcomed during your whole dining experience. Even if we raised our hands respectfully and got eye contact with the waiter behind the desk we were ignored three times. The refill takes maybe ten or 15 minutes, which is okay but questionable. Why would you serve refill if it took you time? The stews should already be done beforehand. This is leaves even more questions about the food arriving the first time. The food arrives but not on our plates. We get other plates, unwashed, delightful? After three spoons the stew is gone like last time. Hungry we leave the restaurant disappointed about the service and food. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone with working tastebuds. We we’re respectfully asking for food and tried to leave a good impression during our whole dinner but did not receive one good gesture. I personally had a very nice experience. The server was really kind and even told me how to make some of the dishes when I asked about it. I read in the comments that some complained about the portion being too small and that the food being too bland. Regarding the portion, I ordered the "small" meat stew with 2 other side dishes and a piece of bread. They said that you could get a refill of some of the dishes, but for me, the portion I got was enough, thus not needing a refill. What I needed to refill was my water cup. I could tolerate the spiciness, but definitely needed some water (I'm quite weak but like spicy food). What a wonderful experience.

Everything was truly perfect. Counting the atmosphere and decor, the staff, the waiting time, the quality/price factor and, of course, the amount and taste of the food. 10/10 from start to finish.

I would've gladly added a tip if I had understood I could do it through the debit card payment machine... Realized too late. Hope this review makes up for it somehow because the place truly deserves it.

If I get to Umeå ever again, this restaurant will get another visit....
