Rå:Bra — Restaurant in Umeå kommun

I decided to visit this restaurant after a recommendation from a friend. Unsure whether to take away or dine in, I chose to stay because the cozy and fresh atmosphere was inviting. The menu was extensive, offering a variety of options that blended Asian fusion, Japanese, and Korean influences, with dishes catering to different dietary needs.

I started with the Sashimi Mix to test the freshness of the fish. The thick-cut slices were beautifully presented, and the quality of the fish was excellent (especially the tuna since it’s difficult to find the best quality tuna), fresh, tender, and flavourful, although the salmon sashimi had a noticeable hint of nearing its freshness limit. What surprised me most was the popcorn seed snack served alongside the sashimi. It was salty, crispy, and surprisingly addictive, adding a creative twist to the dish and elevating the overall experience. The kimchi was delicious as well, mild and well-suited for Swedish palates that may not be accustomed to the authentic, bold flavor of traditional kimchi. It would also be really nice if they started using Himachi/Hiramasa.

Next, I tried the Kimchi Tuna Maki. The dish was vibrant and elegantly plated. The use of black rice instead of traditional sushi rice was unique and added an earthy note to the rolls. The combination of flavors was balanced, allowing the fish to stand out. While the kimchi in the roll was good, I felt it could have been slightly more flavorful for a stronger kick.

For dessert, I opted for the fried banana with vanilla ice cream. While the ice cream was standard, the banana could have been fried to a deeper golden brown for a better crunch. The fried shiso topping wasn’t to my liking due to its bitterness, but that’s just personal preference.

Overall, my visit was a success. The restaurant delivered a thoughtful and creative dining experience with fresh ingredients, unique touches like the popcorn seed snack, and beautiful presentation that made the meal memorable. The environment was a tad too loud for my taste so I had to use my headphones for noise cancellation. Keep up...

We ordered the off menu katsu sando and it was delicious! Do try this if you get the opportunity. I usually get hungry soon after/don't get full when I eat lunch in Umeå, but I couldn't have eaten more even if there was more on the plate. I was active for 8 hours after this meal without getting hungry at all! Really generous and filling portions. The price was extremely reasonable, including not only the main dish, but also coffee, and dessert.

Nu till det mest spännande - maten! Råbras kök levererar en kulinarisk upplevelse utöver det vanliga. Varje rätt är konstnärligt presenterad och smakerna är inget annat än fenomenala. Kockarna använder sig av färska och högkvalitativa råvaror och kombinerar dem på ett sätt som verkligen får smaklökarna att dansa av glädje. Oavsett om du föredrar kött, fisk eller vegetariska alternativ kommer du definitivt att hitta något som tilltalar dina smaklökar på menyn. Dessutom har de ett fantastiskt urval av vin och andra drycker som kompletterar maten perfekt.
